tilting headrest?

Hi all,

I was wondering what year TLs have tilting (front to back) front headrests. My 06 6-spd does not have this option, and I'd like to know if I might have the option of swapping with a different year TL. I realy like this option in my wife's BMW.

If you can create this feature, I will buy it from you!!

None of them do, they only go up and down. (at least mine 08 TLS doesn't)

I do miss this feature also from my bmw, but then again, they are not mean to keep you comfortable, but to prevent a whiplash in an accident or hard braking.

They do tilt, but it's hard to get them to stay in place.

the reason you think they dont tilt is because they are slotted into the seat thats why u lift it up a little bit

Wow, I need to check this when I get home (drive my 4x4 on bad weather days). I'm sure I tried tilting them in the past, and I do keep the headrest up a couple of notches.

it does tilt, just not the way I was hoping for...it goes up (away from you head), and as you tilt, you are really just compensating for height and the move away distance....hope I'm making sense.

In bmw, i could of raised the height straight up, and tilt the headrest towards my head.

But whatever, this is still better than what I had in my 2G

Once I moved the headrest up a bit (I am too tall for the default position), I was able to move it forward (toward my head). Getting it to stay there when pushing on it with anything harder then minimal pressure is a different question

This is one of the sweetest options on BMWs. I miss my old 3 series simply for this.

FYI the headrest is there for when you are in a collision and it minimizes whiplashes, thats pretty much all they are for.

True that they minimize whiplashes, however, they are really meant for your head to rest on... hence the name "headrest".

I stand corrected

When I got home last night I went into the garage to check my TL's headrest to see if they tilt. I needed to apply just a bit of force, but they do indeed tilt. Cool. I guess I was being a bit too gentle and just assumed that they didn't tilt.

Another stupid question answered by the forum

My '07 TL-S has the tilt feature.

But since I've added my P2R throotle body spacer/gaskets, and my K&N CAI
the added thrust makes it stay tilted ALL THE WAY BACK

Yes they do tilt for sure, all TLs do. It's a feature I can't live without. The only thing is they don't tilt as much as they do in a Mercedes or BMW. Ol skool Mercedes headrests tilt a lot!
