For those of you that have had the power steering hose recall done...
...is it just me or does the steering feel a lot heavier than before? Of course, I had a 2012 TL for a loaner for a week, and the electric steering assist was great, so maybe it could be that...

i called the dealer for the recall and they told me it was only going to take an hour to get everything fixed. i know everybody is getting loaner cars and stuff but id rather just wait there if its only going to take an hour. is that how long it would take to get the power steering recall fixed?

So after having 2 loaners recently, a TSX and a TL, I can say that when I get back in my Type-S the steering feels much heavier. But I felt that after the TL I had first and after the TSX I had for the recall.
My opinion is that our steering is just way heavier than the newer models, not a bad thing in and of itself.
Although I really do like the thicker steering wheels they have...

I was told they had to wait for the car to cool cuz it's behind the engine so it would ATLEAST take 2-3 hours.

Is it safe to assume the PS fluid would be replaced recently if this recall was performed? I recently purchased a 07 TL and 'My Acura' does not say my vehicle needs the recall. The PS fluid is fairly dark. Is it just that they are slowly rolling out the recall?

So I would call Acura to double check.

The steering feel on my '05 TL did not change after the PS hose recall was done.
FWIW, the dealership forgot to change the inlet o-ring at the time.![Annoyed](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/annoyed.gif)
No-- not even close.
My PS fluid was only topped off.
FWIW, PS fluid replacement/flushing is not a normal maintenance item, so I'd change it only if it got really dark.

i have had the biggest fiasco with the dealer i took mine too. Told me it would only take an hour, so i declined the loaner... ended up taking just under 4 and a half hours with no notification from anyone what was going on. When i would talk to the service advisor, he said he would go check and let me know... 3 times of getting with him, still no response.. then i get my car back and there is power steering fluid all over the engine bay from them apparently just pouring fluid all over the engine bay and hoping it went into the resivoir. And to top it all off, 2 bolts are missing on my strut tower bar and all 3 plastic engine covers are broken and loose in the engine bay... Getting it figured out here either today or tomorrow.
OP to answer your question, my steering does feel considerably heavier. I thought it was just my imagination since im between a lifted wrangler and tl all the time.

I have this recal on my car and i just need to find the time to get it done.
On the heavy steering feeling, I bet the dealer is using a thicker fluid. I know in motorcycles , mostly street bikes , some of the bikes come fitted with an OEM steering stabilyzer ( kind of like power steering for motorcycles ) and the thicker/thinner the fluid used will net you different results as faster turn in or slower turn in. So I bet the dealer is using a different kind of fluid that may be thicker than what the car originally came with. That would create the heavier steering feeling but I could be wrong and its just a thought.

Is there any sure fire way to check to see if all TSB's have been preformed? I wanna see about getting mine replaced on tuesday if it's not been done.
Do they change the entire PS fluid then?

I really wouldn't think the PS feel would change. The first thing I noticed when I first drove my TL was the EXTREMELY heavy steering. Way heavier than any other car I drove. After only a week, I got used to it and it feels normal. I'd say the people saying it feels heavier got used to the loner vehicle.
For those wondering if the recall was performed, call Acura up. I checked online on My Acura, and it showed no active recalls. After calling, they said it should show up, since the recall has not been performed and it affects my vehicle. I set up an appointment for Monday. I'll take pictures of the fluid color, level, and hoses before it goes in to see what was done since apparently nobody knows.
