I didnt know you can buy TRUE ZKW's from retrofitsource. I thought all they had were the ZKW-R's. I am curious as well because I was looking to get some ZKW's (probably the replicas since they are soo cheap). And I wanna make sure they are in correctly.
When I had my 07 base TL I installed ZKW-R's I believe they DID have a small notch and I installed the notches at 6o'clock position. If that was the right way to do it I dont know.

Paging JnC... Paging JnC...

The real ZKW's need a 3mm spacer so the beam is properly focused. Search and you will find a thread on it here...

To go along more with what I was saying above. When I installed the ZKW-R's on my 07 base the cutoff didnt get any sharper than stock however it did add a bit of color. I was slightly dissappointed though because for some reason ever since installing them the left beam had a noticeable yellow spot in it. Never did figure out why. I ended up trading the car and now im looking to add some clear lenses to my 07 TL-S.

The notch that you have in the ZKW-R is not the same as the real ZKWs. In your case you still can better the beam by slightly bending the cut off shield, spacing the lens or doing both.

Where is the page on Retro that has the true ZKWs? I can't find it.

no i didnt mean i got true zkws from retro i meant the zkw needed a spacer and i had the retros and never used a spacer. I also would like to know about bending the shield and if i can do this without taking the headlight apart again or just take the projector out????

You'll have to completely dissassemble the headlight again to modify the projector. SOme say that if you simply change the distance between the projector bowl and the lens using a spacer is all you need to do to add a little color and sharpen the cutoff. I dont know if I would mess with actually bending the shield.
