For those who have removed the front bumper

I'm in the process of removing my bumper so i could clear my headlights. How hard do you have to pull the bumper to get it off? I've gotten the sides of the bumper off, but the center is stuck. I've pulled pretty damn hard, but the thing isn't budging (Yes i did remove all the screws that were needed)

Pretty hard. It will suddenly let go so be prepared to catch it. Under the top plastic cover by the radiator there are metal clips. For those I gently lifted those with a screwdriver.

Pull pretty hard! I thought I was going to crack it, but just pull. Thats all I can say, and what Skeedatl said, be ready to catch it.....

Are you gonna smoke or clear your headlights...?

hey guys I seemed to have rolled on a perfect board. Some asshole at my yard at work fronted my front bumper. Right in between where the bottome point of the grill and the liscence plate are. It no big deal, and you can even see it when the sun is down, but when its sunny the sun reflects of all the created edges. I wish i had a pic to show you. Anyway it takes away from the appeal of the entire car because in my opinion the front of the car looks amazing (as far as design goes). I have an pearl blue 06 TL. I was thinking to take off the bumper and straighten it out myself. Probably not to hard to make it straight since its barely there. It will cost me too much to do it in the shop. I had experiance taking my rear bumper off to change a taillight but have no idea what's in store to take the front one off. Please any guidelines/advice.

Thanks.

Hey lax,
if I remembered correctly, you can tilt the section near the begining of the light upward and pull. It should come loose.
I tried pulling from the wheel forward before at first, but had a hard time. The section from the wheel well comes off pretty easy, then just move to the front portion and pull that section afterwards.

Oh, don't forget to use a drop cloth so you won't scratch up your bumper.

PPLAPW, i'm doing exactly what you did. Clearing it out and blacking out the housing. I hope it all works out

Steven why don't you just get the apsec body kit on special on the forums here for ~$773 and replace the front AND rear? hehe

Wish I'd known about that when someone dinged my brand new rear bumper a few months back..

that way seems the easiest. my bumper is all fucked up now so it comes off even easier, no need to worry about scratches or cracks.

Unfortunately the A-spec kit front and rear bumper kits are not 'true' replacements, they just go onto the front and rear respectively. so only dings that are somewhat lower will be covered up. the side skirts are complete replacements.

You guys are amazing. It takes some cajones to pull the bumper off of a perfectly good $35K car. Hell, I'm afraid to change my air filter!

I used ti think these mods were madness, but I have to hand it to some of you guys - you're ambitious, resourceful, and fearless. Godspeed!

Keep the mods coming!

Serious question here:

If you can either smoke or clear your headlights, what are the stock ones? The blacked out housing sounds nice.

the stock ones are just....stock haha
smoking, or at least what i think it is, is when you actually smoke the lens (tint it) so it looks a little darker than stock
clearing it is when you take the amber reflector out
blacking out the housing is when you black out the silver-esque housing of the lights. (unfortunaly doing this does cause the parking lights/blinker to not reflect, thus dimming it by quite a bit)

When I say "smoke" I refered to painting the chrome black, and "clear" just removing the the amber reflector.

Nice work Lax! There's some gloss to that pain. I can see the joint compound on your garage walls.
