Think the 2004 TL is bad?

I get the Honda tech magazine, and it has useful service hints, TSB's and so forth.

Of the 20 or so i have, I have noticed that the Odyssey and the 2G TL's have the most, and the most weird, problems. Steering wheel noises on the TL, and all sorta of odd noises and leaks in the Odyssey.

Perhaps they should call it the Oddsissy?

So for all you 3G haters out there, take some solace - it could be worse!

Our trouble-free 2002 Odyssey (first Honda I've ever bought) is the reason I was willing to entrust Acura with my new vehicle purchase. The 2004 TL has been far from trouble-free, though. I might not have bought another Honda had the TL been my first.

Our 2001 Odyssey had only one warranty problem and has been touble free for 65K. In fact I told my wife that the 2005's are out and new and she does not want to part with her 2001.

You also have to take into consideration the length of time those cars have been around. The longer they're available to consumers the more problems you might find with them. Our 3g TLs have been out for just shy of 13 months, right? I'm sure it's possible that more TSBs might come out for our cars in the near future.

My '04 TL, serial # 39xxx has not had a single problem/defect of any kind. I know I'm angering the gods but this car has been wonderful. It gets better the more I drive it.

Me too. Not a squeek, rattle, or buzz to be heard, and pretty flawless performance (except for the crappy tires, of course). Then, mine is a late build (Ser 78xxx) so I would expect build quality to be on a par with the 05s.

2004 TL 6MT 7000 miles needed new power steering pump; new front brake pads and new module for seat memory loss; all under warranty.

I just report what I see - take it or leave it - anecdotes are fine, but it does not change the fact that many of the articles are on the mini-Van.

My 2002 Odyssey with 64k miles has had zero problems (knock on plastic) so far, other than the 2nd gear transmission inspection handled by the recall. It's just not as fun to drive as the car I traded in, a 2000 Passat.

We're simply calling into question your conclusion. My experience (and that of others I know who have an Odyssey or an '04 TL) says that the conclusion you drew from your own anecdote (a/k/a observation of a single statistically insignificant fact) may be off base.

I sometimes wish I had held onto my 99 Accord, I traded for the TL with 90k on it and no problems/rattles. It also would have been payed for by now.
