Is there anyway to change the shift knob on an automatic?

Hey guys I searched for a good 20 minutes and couldnt find anything on this subject. How do i change out the shifter on the automatic stick and do you all have any sites you can recommend where i can purchase different kinds of shift knobs? Thank you!

Yep..I have the OEM wood shiftknob which you can buy at the dealership. I love it, it's a bit bigger than the normal one and feels alot better too

+1 You gotta twist pretty damn hard. You'll think it won't come off but you just gotta twist really hard

Same as everyone else- turn counterclockwise. I have the 07 TL-S CF knob. A LOT lighter than the stock!

Ever since I installed mine the car idles better, gets better gas mileage and acceleration off the line is greatly improved. Did I mention the mod is worth at least 10hp.

I installed the 2007 Carbon Fiber TL-S shift knob and it looks sick, ebay has it for a great price. Just twist left and it will come off, twist right to install.

Most MT shift knobs work on our AT's.......I had a MOMO on for awhile, but really like our stock knob so went back.

Turn to the left as hard as you can without breaking it and then you will be able to put the new shift knob on when you finally get it.

Besides the Type-S one, are there any nice classy ones? All the ones i've seen are so ricer-ish.

^^ It really is. Its something I take for granted, but when I go in other cars w/ auto trans (AV6, G coupe, BMW, Audis etc...) They all have the same shiftknobs from like the 90's with the push-release. And they're HUGEEEEE

Funny... my wife said that about my..... oh, wait, shift knobs?

I was surprised by the nice configuration and compact size of the TL auto's shift knob-- I didn't realize it didn't use a lock button until I drove it. It is nice...

Here's a link to one on eBay - I had no idea they would this expensive! I was definitely thinking under $40. Guess I was sure wrong, haha. For $72...to me, it isn't worth the change, when ours looks pretty good as is. (the CF one is nice though).

DING DING DING! You win! Plus it also adds 5-10 HP because of the light weight.
