Thumbs up Thanks..

Let say thanks to the staff of AcuraZine for a change...

I've heard allot of whining about this and that related to this site. This site is terrific! The staff needs to know that from us the users. This is a terrific resource on so many levels, from your initial purchase to through the entire time of your ownership. How many of us have refered to this site before a purchase? How many of us have found valuable answers to problems or perceived problems? Come on folks, be grateful this site exists and folks take the time to keep this up!

A grateful member....

Thumbs up

I fully agree, this forum is a a invaluable tool to the Acura owner and has really helped all aspects of my Acura ownership experience, saving me many trips to the feared dealership service department.
Thanks to all that have spent long hours to provide this huge knowledge base to all of us.

Hear Hear ... it's too bad that so many on here think the only way to make a contribution is to complain .. most of us recognize the amount of effort it takes to run and maintain this site and we appreciate everything the admins and mods do!

Thanks!

Agreed!

I'm the proud owner of my '04 TL based on what I've learned from this forum (or perhaps in spite of it!).

Thanks guys. Very nice to hear.

Way too much whining going on over COLOR. While I agree, I also said from the start... it is a work in progress.

We spent the entire weekend working on technical, database, and security upgrades... only to focus on the look of the forum Monday evening.

I screwed up.

But no biggie, we'll change it this weekend. I don't think any of you are going to develop glaucoma in that time period... and certainly no babies will starve.

These last few days have been extremely disheartening. I've run this site for 5+ years, and there was a time when every member was appreciative of having, arguably, the best damn automotive community on the internet free and at their constant disposal.

These last few days, we've received relatively few words of gratitude, and this is a trend I've noticed on the rise over the past year or so.

It's not easy to invest your hard earned money, heart, and soul into something... only to give it away free... and then have the very people you are donating your time to treat you with utter disrespect.

Anyway...

I would like to thank those of you who tool time out of your busy lives to say thank you. It is immensely appreciated and it will not go un-forgotten.

To the rest you selfious infidels...

1) You're welcome

2) This site is a major undertaking, and as an IT guy I know that most major implementations aren't without some bugs.

3) Truly a shame. I guess there are a LOT of spoiled brats out there, but as I've observed on numerous occasions within various TL discussions, people are a LOT quicker to complain than compliment. It's a small vocal minority bitching about the upgrades, but most of us are just happy to have the site back after a LONG weekend without!

4) All of the above said, these colors do kinda suck! I'm glad you're going to tweak 'em this weekend!!

Keep up the great work. I'm sure I speak for many (most?) members in saying that we're thrilled to be part of "the best damn automotive community on the internet free and at their constant disposal".

Even if he does have a Mopar, I agree with Lee. Maybe some day he will see the light and buy a Chevy.

Salut !

Dittos on the thank you's! Don't take the whinners too seriously. Just remember some of the posts that complain the TL doesn't have every feature of a 745 BMW, the power of a Viper and better ride quality than a Bentley. That tells you the mentality of a handful of the members but I'll bet the majority of the users of this forum appreciate the effort the staff people put in.
When a change is made to something familiar, even when the change improves it, you take people out of their comfort zone and that makes some folks nervous. It happens every time.
Hugs and Kisses fellas.

Thumbs up Thanks from the Canadian Crowd

Just a note of thanks to all who have made this site what it is, from the

Canadian Contingent.

This is my favourite stop over during the work day. (if I can't be in my

car, might as well be with all the others who suffer from "TL WITHDRAWAL"

syndrome behind their work stations. )

This site provides all of us with a wealth of knowledge about our automobiles not found anywhere else.

SO.. To all the Admins, and Moderators.... Thanks again. JOB WELL DONE.

Soopa - You could take the complaints as a compliment of sorts .. you guys do such a good job at running this thing that everyone has started to take it for granted ... every once in a while it's good to shake up the box!!

Agree with all the comments above. The people that are complaining have no idea what kind of time and effort and $$ it takes to keep a site like this going. But listen to them cry when it goes offline for a while. PLEASE keep up the good work as I have learned so much from this site and the people in it.

Soopa and the rest of the Mods, I agree with all the comments of the previous posters. Thanks for your effort and time for making this site the best one around, as well as a valuable tool. The knowledge base on this forum is outstanding as well as the folks who offer them. A lot of folks are resistant to change and I learned a long time ago, change is inevitable. Thanks again.

This is the most important web site on the internet for TL owners. Keep up the great work, guys!!! I have learned so much and am now inspired to keep my TL in tip-top shape for several years to come.

Without a doubt, we drive the best-looking, best technology, best value car on the market today priced under $49,700 -- since the RL is $49,700.

Thanks so much for all your work on these forums guys, I use them everyday, and I greatly appreciate all the time, effort, money and stress that goes into running a website this demanding. We owe our great community to you moderators, and don't think for a second that we arent appreciative Sometimes we take things for granted, and that's what I think all those complaints were.

The "new" AcuraZine

We all know the AcuraZine was down for the weekend. Yes, we all had withdrawal symptoms – but please, what is with all the hostility? I happen to think the admins and moderators have done an excellent job with the boards.

Sure, everybody is entitled to their opinions on the color scheme and design – I personally happen to love it now. At first, I thought it was different and it took me a couple days to get used to the design. But, I did, and so should everybody else.

Do any of you pay to use the forums? No. It is a free resource provided by the admins who surely have to find a way to get money to keep it up. Some of you are computer savvy and understand that webhosting for a site as large as this can cost an enormous amount of money. All the bandwidth is very expensive. The hardware and the licenses for software are expensive. How about all the man hours the admins and moderators put into the site – FREE. They are not paid, they don’t make money to run the site.

Lets be reasonable around here guys, give them a break. For once, thank the administrators and moderators for their time and effort to make AcuraZine what it is today.

Before the forums went down for the weekend (which, since joining the boards was the first time) there was a post in the forum about your old PM’s being lost. I also pointed out that after the site came back online, we had lost the rep. points and our subscriptions. Do I really care about losing those? No, not at all. Read through the threads, there are explanations as to why the rep point system is gone. It is not a loss to the community. It is also definitely not the admins fault for your PMs being lost. They warned you ahead of time.

If you don’t like the color scheme, deal with it. Like Soopa has said numerous times, IT WILL CHANGE. It is only the beginning. Even if its not, I happen to think the design is awesome. The layout is wonderful, and most of all, the home page is spectacular.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think it is about time we give back to the people who make these forums possible. They don’t ask for anything out of us – but I claim we should thank them once in a while. Stop complaining about the design, it looks good. In another thread I posted this: in elementary school didn’t your parents and teachers tell you to keep quiet unless you have something nice to say? Yes, we are all entitled to our opinions, but please, they worked hard on this. I believe this place is great. So please, take a moment to sit back and think about what some of you have done this week. I thank those of you who have been respectful to the admins and mods. I am sure they are happy to accept constructive criticism, not hateful bashful comments.

Will one of the mods please close this thread? I don’t want this to be a flaming war – just a notice to people that many are being rude and bashful and its unacceptable. The kind of attitude since the new design is something we would expect from snobby people – not everybody here who until now have generally been civil and respectful.

The "new" Acurazine

vikrampatel,
why start a thread that just gets closed??
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107327

Mod Ron A note: The above was written before vikrampatel's thread was merged into this one. Now all the threads have been merged together as one common topic.

i honestly dont think it's hostility, it's more like constructive criticism, which can be taken with a "grain-of-salt".

i think the expectations were set to high with the "...better security and great new features..." popup while site was down.

i can speak for every member, everyone (i repeat) everyone knows the admin and moderators did lots of hard work and the best they could do!!

...and,
personally (my 2cents), if the site is about making money from having members (https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/doesnt-anyone-want-clarion-touchscreen-unit-650-shipped-please-look-106644/) then i expect the site to be functional and feature full (but that's just me and my word means nothing).

This is my first post. I will use it to say thank you to everybody who keeps this forum going. I have been using it to research the TL before purchasing. I've easily found answers to all of the questions I've had. I just picked-up my 05 TL with Navi yesterday. This car makes all my previous cars obsolete. I am sure this forum will be a great asset throughout the ownership of my car. Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on the new car! Make sure you take pics and post them when you get a chance. Make sure you check out the 3G Garage if you have not already done so.

This is still a work in progress, with many refinements yet to come.

The color scheme may be changed, and the top part may be reworked also. Unless it irritates you so bad that it affects your sex life/eating habits/or causes a sleep disorder, it would be better to give soopa at least one more sleepless weekend of working on the forum before you get too concerned.

thanks everyone.

Vikram, that was a very kind and honest post, it's appreciated.

Sometimes it's hard to remember teh good in things, when everyone around you is talking about the problems and dislikes...after a sleepless weekend of working, this can be enough to want to walk away for good.
Kind words such as these, still get the point accross that the people dislike the colors, but it still manages to thank and appreciate all of soopa's hard work...that's all we ask for!

This site will continue to grow for as long as Acura produces Automobiles, so we've got a long way to go yet!!

I have a BRILLIANT idea!

Give the naysayers something to really complain about...

...add a "rattle" sound effect to the site!!

To the Administrators and Moderators, Keep up the good work.
