Thank You Extended Warranty! :)
I had a business meeting today in Mahwah, NJ when I got in the car at home the TPMS light came on indicating my RR tire had 25 lbs of air.
After the meeting I drove over to Ramsey Acura and since I had nearly 85,000 miles I told them to change the oil too (I change the oil every 5,000 miles with synthetic) While up on the lift they show me 2 serious oil leaks on the engine, on the left side & up above the oil drain plug. Some type of seals/gaskets were leaking. Since I have another 2 years/15,000 miles of extended warranty it will be covered which I know is over $1,000 in labor, but to do the repair the timing belt needs to be removed. Since the timing belt service alone is nearly $1,000 they will only charge me $500 to replace it NOW including the water pump. I know I have another 20,000 miles to go until 105,000 miles, but I couldn't pass up this deal, I save $500. I'll get more info on exactly what was leaking.

It was through the Acura dealer & the company is Zurich. It cost me $1,400.00 They already replaced a leaking shaft seal last year which was $600 in labor. I am a little shocked at the leaks, my 98' accord V6 never leaked at all.

Nice! Glad they're catching problems that your warranty is covering. I at 99K and just went out of my AcuraCare which served me well. My car has never stranded me anywhere but, I've had transmission pressure switches, a misaligned pulley, HFL module, power window sensor and broken motor mount replaced under AcuraCare. They found the broken motor mounts at my last scheduled service before my warranty ended.

some how that issue with leak crank seal is an issue with the J series motor, my 00 Accord V6 never leak with 141k miles (knock on steel), however my 99 Accord V6 leak at 120k miles. The leak was bad to the point where I park my car over night a puddle of oil was form under the car.

The oil pump seal was leaking & front left CV boot was leaking, both covered under warranty. I was thinking the CV boot would be wear & tear but thankfully it was covered. They did the timing belt for $550, still a bargain. Question: To replace the oil pump seal does the timing belt etc have to come off? They told me it does but I don't know.
They also did tire rotation, plugged the leaking tire & changed the oil with synthetic, I change it every 5,000 miles. With 85,000 miles I will continue driving it, afterall it has 2 accidents reported on carfax & I might as well keep it for another 200,000 miles.

Series Motor's
It is always worth it to get an extended warranty because of the perks which come along with it. Free Gas, Boost if your battery dies, Tow if your in the middle of no-where free of charge to get it fixed FREE of charge. A top that, a free car rental for up to two-weeks if it takes that long for them to fix your car. It's like triple A for free over a period of 8 years if you do it correctly =) As I have done!

TVL-glad to hear you got your money out of the extended warranty!
I bought one too. I hope I never have to use it, like you did, but still....
