test drove IS350 and TL-S back to back
Tustin Acura had two CPO TL-S and a used IS350 (trade in).
the Tl-S were 2008s. 11k miles. they wre asking way too much money...
$34k. i tried to explain that they were selling for $32-33k MAX toward the end of 08. the salesguy said he "might" be able to get down to 31 or 32k. whatever...
My wife and drove both. yheah, as many have said here, the IS is smaller in back. very little leg room. width is not as wide as the TL, but it's easily a fit for two adults or three small kids.
We have an 07 MDX as our main family car. we are looking for a spare family car..DD for me/dad to drive to work..and then when we do shorter family trips and don't need the SUV we can take a sedan and get better mpg.
the TL is ideal in size. too bad dealers are asking too much for them...
I felt hte TL-S rode more sporty and felt like it handled better.
IS350 vs. TL-S , i like the TL-S better.
IS350 vs a BASE TL w/nav...I'd rather get the IS and be a bit cramped..
i test fit a car seat into the back of the IS and it fit. I put all my kids back there and they fit. my kids are 7/4/2. so for the time being it would work as the "second" car....
the deal they offered on the IS was actually pretty good. 2007 IS350, navigation, 18s. new tires. 27k miles. $29k. not a bad price if you check out what other dealers want... but that's not CPO.
I may look into 2007 TLs. there is a dealer near me that has a 2007 TL with only 11k miles...but it's one of those litle corner lots run by arabs... i drove the car it seemed okay, but you always think they are hiding body damage or some other problem...
they want $27k for that car. it was kind of dirty..but a good detail woudl have it in good shape. but then i'd need to buy a warranty to match CPO..and that's gonna be 1-2k..so then you are up to 29k...which is what a dealer would ask for a CPO 2007... so back to squre one..
i see people here saying they got 2007s for 25-26k... were they CPO???
anyway... i liked the TL. my wife liked the IS b/c it was more luxurious.
decisions decisions.

To me, it felt like the IS250 had a firmer ride than the IS 350 which felt more cushy. I actually liked the 250 quite a bit, but ultimatly Acura was giving me more for
my trade in and I wanted a bigger rear seat since the car I was getting was going to be our main sedan. (my wife has a 2004 v6 accord coupe that she bought brand new and now she seems quite attached to)
the price does seem pretty high, for me, upgrading to a new TL-S from a 2001 CL typeS with 116K miles cost me $32K including everything and extended warranty.
I could have had a better deal if I picked one of the automatic TL-S they had on the lot but I opted to 6spd which then, had met their production quota and their only option was to find a unsold one. Mine was on the factory lot getting ready to be shipped to the mid west but they contacted the dealership it was destined for and worked something out.

Don't really like the IS350s.
Have you considered the GS350? I seen a couple around here in San Diego for like 35k and that would be 07s with mileage in the teens. They are sweeet.

I test drove a gs350 at the dealer where I tested the IS. Actually I went there because they had a used GS I wanted. I really wasn't impressed with the ride. I think it's because I was expecting a cushy ride like my dads LS460. Also my wife commented that the navi and buttons around the navi look really cheap. I was really dissapointed because I find the exterior looks very nice, and with some wheels it looks amazing.
The other factor is in my case the dealer wanted 49k for it. Lol a used one with 7k miles.
Also I noticed in the GS that the trunk opening is pretty small..
