Taking the TL on to a Race Track

Has anyone wished they could take their car on the race track to see how it performs?

I was wondering because two Sundays ago ...I have seen a TSX and an 05RL at Infineon Raceway at Sonoma and they look so cool....However the TL was absent

When I have enough money for track sessions and some track tires, I definately want to take it to a track.

Rick I think most of us have at least had the thought.

Some years ago I had an Audi 4000S Q. That was the four wheel drive model. One weekend I did get up the nerve to enter into a SCCA Solo II Event. Just competing against yourself to lower ET. It was great fun but then I thought about what I was doing.

Not good for me to be beating the --- out of my daily transportation.

Other than that it was great fun and I did pretty good.

My 2G has been to the tracks several times. I'm thinking about taking my brother's '05 6-speed next time just to see how it would do. It's fun, and you can run at your own pace.

The thought of crashing and the insurance not covering the damage, brings me back to reality....

Even in at a relatively safer drag strip, that is a concern of mine. One close call for me occurred during a run at Etown where the other driver had a problem "negotiating" his car's power-to-weight ratio. Needless to say, I nailed the brakes (mid-run) just so he could sort himself out.

I do. As for insurance, some companies are nice inough that if you call them and tell them you want to take your car to the track, they will give you track insurance and you pay a one time premium for that day and viola....you're covered!

I'd love to be able to take it to this one, but that isn't happening, and the concerns about crashes are VERY real there:

I took my RSX to the track once, it was awesome and totally worth it. If you go with a club they'll make sure everything is safe, and you'll come out being a better driver knowing your car's true limits. Just be ready to burn through your tires and brakes, and bring a full tank of gas. I'm waiting until my TL isn't so new anymore and I'll try to get in some time at Laguna Seca
