Tail light replacement

Just discovered I got a cracked rear tailight. I'm suspecting some neighborhood thugs are the ones to blame.

I'm planning to replace it myself. Where would be a good reputable source of getting TLS tailights and if you've replaced it [yourself], how easy was the process?

I'm not sure where the best place to purchase a tail light is. But a few weeks ago I replaced my driver side tail light. It was pretty simple and took me about 1.5 hours. I only removed the driver side of the bumber. I could do it a lot faster now.

You can follow these DIY's to get an idea of how it's done:

The following is a step by step DIY from a fellow AcuraZiner:

The following shows the service manual scans on how to remove the bumper and the tail light:

Here is a video of the bumper removal:

All of these and more DIY's are available in the 3G garage, which is located here:

Awesome. So from reading it, you can acutally just replace the lens and not the whole taillight unit? Because my damage is only on the lens, bulbs and everything are intact.

Correct. If your LED's (tail light/brake light) are still working, you will be able to re-use them. You'll have to take the LED board off the old housing and put it on the new housing. Make sure you remember to re-use all the foam gaskets on the new housing.

Is there a picture of the LED board? Can I replace the LEDs on the board? I've got tinted tail lights and wish for the light to be brighter.

There might be a pic somewhere on the forum or internet, not sure. But, if ya know what you're doing you should be able to solder different LED's onto the board

Oh boy, solder. I was hoping there could be an easy led replacement like a light bulb. I know the turn signal on my 2004 is a bulb not LED.
