synthetic oil in my TL

synthetic oil in my TL
I have a 07 TL-S and was wondering how much of a difference will putting synthetic oil in my car would make. Will I notice it running better and or performance? I know some people who do this but want to get some opinions. Money is not an issue. Thanks in advance?

If you tl-s still has the facotry fill stuff and the MID says above 20 % life, don't change it out. When the MID tells you to, then change it out. I use dino oil and my car runs great. synthetic stuff is expensive and the MID does not take account for that, it thinks you are using dino oil.

I use Mobil-1 and I still follow the MID recommendation (Which in my case is around 6,000 mi). Yes it is a little more expensive, but considering the cost of the car, it is a small price to pay for peace of mind.
BTW... I did not notice any performance improvement when I switched over.

I drive a meager Accord and always use Full synthetic. Its my pride and joy so a few extra bucks is well worth it. I leave the oil in there for about 8-10k and pay ZERO attention to MID. I'm using Pennzoil Plantium right now. I find it hard to stick with one brand of oil, I just like trying new products out.

I just put Mobil 1 full sythetic in this weekend. I want to use this oil because I put
500 miles a week on the car and Id like to go longer without changing the oil. I
dropped a K&N in also at the same time. Its running really great. Not happy about
not having an oil pressure gauge though.

I noticed maybe 1 mpg more with synthetic. If you drive in a cold climate such as new england, I would suggest you used it for peace of mind. I leave it in my car for 8000 before I change it. I have had 6 cars run on this stuff and no problems at all. well no oil related problems anyway.

Yeafh thats what I thought. I drive about 350 miles a week and I love to hit VTec. I have had a 96 Honda Prelude, 2004 Honda Civic, 2006 Acura TSX and my current 2007 TL-S. I have not had one problem with any of these cars except my 04 civic I had to replace a sincro. I have experianced that Honda makes the best cars out there and thats why other manafactures are using the Honda engine like the Saturn VUE uses the MDX engine and IRL, and Le mans. Face it, Honda is taking over the automobile industry.

Is it just me but synthetic oil doesn't seem too expensive if you buy it yourself. I usually get mine from target or walmart and it's all about the same within a few bucks. I think a large 5qt? or maybe it's 10 quart of mobil 1 is only like $19 at wally world. For full synthetic I think this is very reasonable. I know if I go to my dealer for full synthetic or anywhere else, they charge you a damn arm and a leg.

I have been using Synthetic for over 12 years now. Funny as I never keep a car more than 2 years anyway, but my logic is it helps better protect the engine. I love 0W-20 since it gets throughout the engine quicker at startup. Back int he 90's I swore I felt a difference in my wife's Celica, mostly becasue we live at the bottom of a steep driveway and when cold you coudl feel the roughtness of the engine climbing the hill when cold. Once I went synthetic it felt much smoother, pyshcological? Maybe, but as many have said for a $35K car spending a few extra bucks to protect it is worth it. If you don't drive hard and change oil frequqntly my guess is regular dino is just as good. Was a Syntec guy for years then when they went to fake synthetic I switched to Mobil1 with Mobil1 filter and have not looked back, although I hear Mobil1 is using the fake stuff now too. I buy my own oil and filter and dealer charges me $15 to do the change. I chaneg oil when MID is down to 30% or 20% usually, which works out to be 4500-5000 miles for me.

FTW
I've thought of this myself.
MID - tracks only Dino oil, costs 31.00~ at dealerships, Fully Synth - 6x.00
Dino is close to 5-6k miles, and the Fully Synth is 7-9k?
I dunno if it's worth it. I dont see myself holding onto the car for 10+yrs, so i'm still deciding.

Synthetic is standard factory fill in my BMW330 & the factory filter/refill schedule is every 15K miles. I can't see any reason the Honda motor can get by on the same schedule as the BMW.
BTW IMHO I have never seen so much anal retentativeness as the oil threads on this site. Any oil that will meet the SAE & manufactures specs will do the job just fine. Its just like the octane nonsense threads.
My 67 Stingray has been running on Dino oil for the last 40 years.
