So I drove off with my TL key on my bumper about a month ago. Well, I found it today a few blocks away. It did get run over a few times, snow storm, rain....and after wirebrushing it, it actually started the car. However, the keyless remote part got destoyed. So...my question is, this key is my Driver 1 key. Do I need to replace it with a driver 1 key? THis is preferred but if I can't find a used one that is driver 1, will a driver 2 work? Also, do I need to go to the dealer to program? I see instructions but not sure if this applies to switchblade key for 07.

You will need the Driver 1 Key, in order to maintain that. You have an 07 TL right? If you want you can just disassemble the new key and put the old key on it, so that you dont have to get it cut, but it will need to be reprogrammed again

 

Yes, I have the key with the immobilizer in it. (it starts the car) The transmitter got destroyed. So....do I have to get the new transmitter programmed by the dealer or can I do this myself?
