Switchbacks- Cop trouble
Switchbacks- Cop trouble
I'm curious if anyone who has cleared their headlights and installed white switchbacks that flash amber had any problems with the cops? I know everything is "supposed" to be fine as long as the bulbs flash amber but we all know that there are some cops who like to be d*cks from time to time. Some might see the headlights with all white/blue lights and think "Hey there's supposed to be some amber in there, thats illegal" and pull you over. You would think all cops know all the laws to the fullest but unfortunately that's not the case.
I once got stopped by two different cops in the same day for having too dark tints (even though they're only 35%-front, 20%-rear). The first cop gave me a ticket because he said the legal limit is 70%. The next cop pulled me over for making an illegal turn but saw the other ticket and asked what I got it for. I told him and he checked out my tint and actually told me, "That bullshit. The limit is 35%. If I were you I would fight that". I just laughed.

well in New York City... it depends what day of the month it is... last quarter of the month... you'd prob get a ticket for chirping with the stock michelins... (which happens alot dodging friggin lincoln town cars and pedestrians on there cellphones)
Yea I know what you mean. My wife's ex-boyfriend used to be a cop and she knows for fact that they have quotas to meet. He told her its usually around the end of the 2nd week and the last week in the month. So look out close to the 15th and the 30th.
I haven't had any issues with "Da Law" in NYC... Just follow procedure when they pull you over and you should be okey...
Procedure:
1. Pull over in a safe place
2. Roll down ALL your windows including your sunroof (depends on Rain situation)
3. Turn OFF vehicle and place keys on the roof of the car via opened sunroof
4. Keep hands on steering wheel...
5. Do not make any sudden moves...
6. Speak when spoken to...
7. Ask to go into pocket/glovebox/center console to retrieve any documentation...
Hope you get a ticket and NOT get SHOT...
This has always worked for me... well except the few time I didn't follow rule #5 & #6 and I spent a couple of weekend at the "bookings"...

I have too, $50 bucks for noise pollution.
Excuse was my Bass was to strong. FReekin Rockies!
NYPD are worthless, sorry if i'm insulting anyone but they just are
So you pull your keys out and put them on the roof anytime you get pulled over?
Damn man - it's just a traffic stop - not a felony stop. I think you'd be safe just rolling the window down and waiting.

The idea is to put the keys on your dash or the roof, as cops do that when they get pulled over. You are telling the cop, hey I might be a cop or I know a few cops. They will respect you more.
I always lower windows, turn on maps lights, put the keys on the dash, and I give absolutely no attitude, plus knowing dozens of cops helps
P.S. Make their life easier, and they will return the favor

If you will get pulled over, this will be a secondary reason, not primary.
Don't worry about it
