Switchback side marker mod?

So I was thinking about moding my side markers because they don't match my turn signals anymore. I am not the best with electronics and I have not opened up the side markers before.

My question is, would it be possible to put the Switchback LED's in and wire it up to the front turn signals. Would this allow it to run white and flash orange? Or would I need a new driver? I know some people have converted the side markers to flash with the turn signals but I think they do not have them on while running. Is it the LED that is restricting it? It seems possible I just wanted some thoughts. I am thinking of buying a switchback and one side marker just to check.

I don't think Oznium, sales switchbacks. As you would need to go through them for the small light bar that is used to mod the side markers to white. I have seen a couple of people on the site (Kennedy) for one has his wired to his turn signal but they blink at different times than the reg. turn signal. Now if there is a way to fix the lag on that mod I could really see doing a switchback mod if anyone sold them. You can try autolumination and see what they have, as far as a small linear switchback. Could be a cool mod.

I have sent them an email to see what I would need and if they have the parts. Would I need a driver or just the LED's with the ability to switch colors? The turn signals only have two connectors so I assume there are different currents that make the lights blink. If I took apart a SMT tower could I use those LED's then run the wirering up to the turn signals? Would I need a driver? If so could I use the one inside the SMT tower?

I have them too I want the side markers by the doors to match. It seems I would have to have three wires the led's and a driver for them. My question is will this fit, is this possible, or should I not even try it?

Switchbacks will NOT fit in the sidemarkers. The housing is way too small. But as I always say, nothing is impossible. The sidemarkers have 2 Hi-Flux LEDs in them. Many of us have modded them to hold white LEDs. You can custom make your own switchback by making a custom-made circuit board that will fit the same space. Have 1 bank of white LEDs and one bank of amber. Wiring wise you will have to wire it just as you mentioned above about Kennedy's sidemarker signal mod. It's definitely doable, just a lot of thought and work. I thought of doing it when I modded my sidemarkers but then I thought...........nah, too much work.

When you say the switchback will not fit do you mean the whole tower or the individual LED? I thought about taking apart a tower and using three of the LED's and the driver inside. The side markers only have two wires don't they? If so I would have to use a new connector which would accept three wires. Maybe it is too much, but if I can a sidemarker I think I might try it.

Yes, anything is possible.

In the meantime, I'm currently having the side marker circuit board sent out to a cirucuit board company to see what they can come up with.

Group buy anyone?
