Switch blade key
Switch blade key
Got a new key and decided to get a switch blade key but
Did not expect it would look this good with so much
quality and one side has Acura emblem
The edges have mesh stainless steel just very cool and
Great looking, like its for a brand new car
Got on EBay motors app, $50 seller artiway
Well worth it! Locksmith cut and program it $30
Way better looking than our gray fobs

Hmm. I had to do a double take... And I find that round "A" logo to actually be pretty non-offensive. I don't hate it!
Not a fan of the switchblade in general, but $80 all in for a new key is pretty boss!

Switch blade key
Doors and trunk buttons work and I expected chrome plastic but it feels like metal and with mesh on the sides it's good looking. Very easy to get , just ordered on eBay and a lock company cut key etc and that was it. $50 plus 30
im curious how you went about it.. if all you paid was $80 for a brand new switchblade including getting it programmed that's a REALLY great price. Would you mind telling us what company cut and programmed the key?
i have a 05 and had the standard key and separate remote and switched to the 07/08 switch blade. I ended up paying someone to have my old key's chip cut out and transferred to the new switchblade so i didnt have to pay extra to get it programmed

He did our 2009 Fx35 too. Acura dealer wanted $135.00. Infiniti wanted more. Ordering key was fast and trust me it looks great and feels like quality material

The one I chose was the nicest looking one on eBay
You guys understand that this is an aftermarket key, most likely from China so they come with the blade already milled.
These have been out for a while now, although not specifically this design.
Do understand that your memory link feature will no longer function with an aftermarket keyfob.

It would still be ideal if the memory function worked obviously.
I like it.
So no driver memory or panic button? I can live with that! I dont even like being called driver 1... and i rarely every panic... if i do i'll just get the baseball bat out
Can you still open the windows with it? I imagine so?

Got mine, got it cut and it will unlock my doors and lock them and slide into the ignition but it won't actually let me start the car. ended up getting it cut for free, so now just have to get it to turn over so he can program it. Switchblade looks amazing though
Oh good? I like mine so much I ordered another for our 2003 G35 coupe, it's a good looking key fob.

Is the transponder physically in the original metal key? Or is it in the remote button sender?
I just bought a set (2 each) of the aftermarket identical switchblade keys, and had them cut, and programmed them so now they activate the door lock/alarm. But they are not recognized as driver 1 and the engine just turns over and wont start.
I found a few different "how to's" and followed them. Neither will get the car to recognize the new keyfob as driver 1 or let it start.
Stuck in the driveway for now.........
Any help?
Your PM was full, but here's my reply:
Aftermarket keys will not have Driver memory function.
I'll try to break it down.
On a OEM switchblade, there are 3 things available to pair or allow communication with the car.
1. Immobilizer (aka transponder?)
2. Remote functions
3. Driver Memory
1. The immobilizer determines if your car can start or not. It's an anti-theft feature.
If you lose your keys or want to add a new key that has a new immobilizer in it, you will need to get the dealer to program the ECU to allow the new immobilizer to start up your car. If you just want to replace your old key, you may swap over the immobilizer to the new switchblade and all is well.
2. Remote Functions, this allows the remote to lock, unlock, PANIC, and open your trunk. This one you may program at home at any time following a set of instructions.
3. Memory Functions, this allows the car to know what key is what driver setting.
It is "programmed" or paired by holding down the lock and unlock button.
So if the remote is Driver 1, the car will set the mirrors and seats to Driver 1 setting. It will do the same if you unlock the car with Driver 2.
The problem with aftermarket switchblades is that there is no Memory function.
So you're only stuck with being able to start up your car (1. Immobilizer), and unlock/lock and open your trunk (2. Remote Functions).
Hope that helps.

I have an 07 TL Type S
New (aftermarket) Switchblade key
I removed transponder from old key into new key after the new key was cut. I programmed the new key, so it will set alarm on and off, and car will start. I can not get the key to be recognized as driver 1. I followed the D-1 instructions of lock, unlock then hold the lock and unlock at the same time but the remote only blinks once and then locks the doors. when I hit the memory button then the #1button I get three beeps.
Any thoughts

Sorry to resurrect this, But...
