I got into an accident a while ago, long story short, I have to pay out of pocket for repairs. I was thinking of swapping the damaged body panels from my TL with another TLs undamaged panels. Would it be feasible to change things like the front and rear driver side doors? How do I swap things like the keyhole etc? any help would be appreciated. My goal is to buy a 6speed TL, swap the parts, sell my auto TL with undamaged body to pay for the 6speed.

 

pretty easy to swap out keyholes, learn on the doors you arent going to use just in case the little clips that hold the mechanism arms dont break... they are real cheap new from the dealer though. swapping the doors out is super easy as well!

May be more of a job than just swapping a couple of doors as depending upon the severity of damage, the door frames may be compromised. Post some pictures and I'm certain you'll get feedback, good or bad.

 

I would just sell your broken auto and buy the TL Type S manual if that is what you want. All panels (fenders, hood, doors, trunk, bumpers) have VIN's on them (so these won't match after swap). Also as posted above the door structure may be damaged (requiring more repair). Post some pictures so we can get a better idea of the damage.

But as far as buying a whole running car for parts, I wouldn't do that unless it's already a salvage title car. Otherwise find a junk yard with the needed parts.
