Supercharger

From Comptech:

We should have the supercharger for the 2004> TL available by the end of august. At this time I have no other information on the kit. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Comptech must be having problems with it.

They said it would be the end of June or early July.

Now they pushed it back another two months.

Their test mule must be having problems.

Too bad comptech is the only Acura tuner that is going to produce a supercharger.
I don't like them very much. They are rude, short and aren’t very nice people.

i'm not a mods expert, but can someone tell me what to expect performance and price wise with a supercharger? What reliability or efficiency does one sacrifice by adding a super?

I took a look at the comptech site as I too was interested in the possibility of increasing power on the TL. Turns out that the supercharger for the previous CL/TL only adds approx 40 - 50 horsepower. That is ex$pensive horsepower to say the least!! Although all things considered this is hp at the wheels!! Here is a blurb from the site:

"Comptech has developed a supercharger kit for the TL/CL and Accord that increases power by 40 to 60 horsepower at the wheels depending on the model of car"

Should be interesting to see what they can do with the new TL!!

I am primarily looking for low end power increases (around town driving)! Will the supercharger assist with this?? Perhaps someone with this installed in a 2nd gen TL could comment on the difference it makes.

The problem that they are most likely already running into is the compression in the 04 TL is already 11:1. Trying to put a supercharger on there without detonation, while deilvering high HP gains, is going to prove exceedingly difficult. For comparision I am going to supercharge my camaro and and the aboslute highest compression that I would want is 9:1.

What is the compression ratio on the previous tl type s?

I know the NSX Stock 3.2L C32B motor is 10.2:1

Our TL is high for a v6.

I don't like the body style except for one or two that I have seen but if you are looking to SC a car the 04 Pontiac Comp G would be the way to go. It has a nice support market now. They now have aftermarket tuning for there PCM's (Power Control Module).

flnsx,
At least CT isn't releasing the kit until it is done right. Unlike some people companies have done on other boards.

reliability....depends on whose it is
efficency....not very
