I think you should check this thread out if you're serious about the swap.

If that's the case, why not just trade your base in on a used Type-S. It will be A LOT cheaper that way. A swap is going to be incredibly expensive.

"doing" the swap and getting a half assed estimate are 2 different things.

Between $5-10K and you're talking about painting the car? Good grief, just buy a real Type-S! You'll be spending WAY more money than you need to otherwise.

To be clear, I'm not trying to be a hater on your Type S conversion project. But wouldn't you be saving more money by possibly selling your current TL and buying a Type S instead? Assuming that you can sell your car for at least 19k, you can slap on that extra 5-10k you would've spent for the engine swap/ paint job and purchase a Type S.

But out of curiosity...are you going to get your car painted Kinetic Blue Pearl?

i try to be optimistic. when i see a tl with a type s badge, i think "he must have not liked the quad exhaust, taillights, waffle wheels and headlights, and decided to changed them"

That's a really great way of looking at it. Kid in our school lot has a V8 Mustang GT with a V10 emblem on the rear. It's even better when he boasts about it and 'revs' his engine after school.

Someone needs to slap him insanely hard. It's one thing to claim your Mustang has a V8 when it's a 6 but really? A V10? what a douche.

Completely agree OP. I just kind of roll my eyes when someone does that. Same thing applies to other cars. But from what I've seen at least people on here make it look the part and don't just slap a badge on there and call it a day.

These badge swappers must feel real weird when the actual car pulls up to them at a stop light.
