Steering Wheel Stiff?>
Steering Wheel Stiff?>
I just got brand new 07 TL, steering wheel is hard comparing to any other car I have before. Wondering if it is normal? I mean if i stop at a red light if i want to make a turn i have to use 2 hands to be able to turn it.
i have driven Mezcedez and lexus. They are loose as hell. This is my first time feeling a power steering that this hard that you have to use both arm to make a Turn.!!! but its normal i guess i have to live with it.
The stiffness of the steering wheel is normal. Its just like the steering wheel in a BMW 3 series or mercedes SLK. It's soppose to give that sporty feeling. Also its becuase your car is new. New cars tend to be much stiffer. Driver for a couple of thousand miles it loosen up. At least it did for me or i just got use to it.
Hint. Never, I mean never, turn your front wheels when the car is not moving if you can help it. This puts a lot of stress on the entire steering system (tires, too) and over time will cause looseness to develop. This is especially true for front drive cars since the weight bias is in the neighborhood of 60/40.

To the OP...I have had a few '06 TL loaners, and the steering is WAY loose on them. Acura changed the steering feedback on the '07's and I LOVE it stiff (that's what SHE said
). I really don't care for loose steering, it feels sloppy to me.

yup man stiffness is normal (that too is what she said)
my type s is so stiff... how stiff is it?
really stiff lol
All jokes aside, it is normal, I have 3200k on mine and it is the same as it was out of the box (aka off the truck)

If you are comparing with Toyota/Lexus, then the TL's steering wheel is definitely very stiff.
It is also a little stiffer than the VW Passat and Civic I used to drive, but I think the stiffness is comparable with my friend's 3-series, X5, etc, which IMO is good. I personally like the stiffer feel.

I love the new weighted steering on my TL-S. It makes me feel like I’m more in control of the car at highway speed. In all my years on car forums, one of the things most people wanted was weightier steering.

Hard Stiff Loose... Turn Off...
what are we talking about again...
-----
The TL-S Steering adds to the aggressive nature of this lux-sport badboy/badgirl (depending if you consider your car male/female lol)

Using two hands sounds like it's too hard, stiff, and firm.
Are you sure you're not using two hands just because the wheel's so thick and feels so good?
Have you driven another TL to compare? Maybe next time you're at the dealer for oil, etc, ask about it.

I picked up my new TL and I had the exact same observation. I want super-tight steering at highway speeds, but I would prefer a touch more power at 0-5 mph. In theory, it should not have to be so stiff at 0-5 mph in order to give better feel at high speeds; they have variable power assist and should be able to deliver more power at the low end of the speed scale.
But having said that, I'm already getting used to it after just 3 days so I'm not complaining.
