Staying Stock with your Type S TL??
#42
Well the only reason I sometimes recommend staying stock is because half the shit people do to their cars IMO is a downgrade and would have been better left stock.
As for my Type S you can call it basically stock. With this one it's just a few simple ones that can be completely reversed if I so wanted. 35% tint, osram interior and license plate LED's, and VLED Triton LED's. Other than that I dig the car the way it is. I have learned from previous cars that most of the time when I mod a car I end up not liking the mod after about a week lol. For example jpipe. $400 bucks and I felt nothing. Went back to stock and car felt like it gained power especially on hot summer days...go figure. Lowering springs...car rode like crap on bumps. Went back to stock and wish I never wasted my time doing the job. So anyway, I think you get my point. Plus for some reason I always feel when a car is taken apart and put back together more often than not something breaks or doesn't go back together as good as it was from the factory. So I have learned to just leave shit alone haha.

No, I don't want a poll. I don't want to rule out the minor mods I don't even consider much of a mod, like LED's or a K&N drop in air filter. There is no need to make a poll with mod or not because these minor aesthetic changes or even Acura OEM changes (like my A-spec kit) don't really count as mods. When people cut up the exhaust, or add j pipes, or delete cats these are major mods. Thank you though Moderator for the offer.

minor mod. major mod.
you're using the same word. mod.
which is short for modification.
modification; is the act of modifying or changing it. a small alteration, adjustment.
no matter how small or how large a modification is; it's still changing the way it came from the factory.
you can deny or say whatever you want; butt you cant Modify the definition.

You idiots that have modded your car, please stay out of this thread, and stop being jealous of those that are stock, or close to stock. A stock Type S (especially with an Acura ASPEC kit) is beautiful! No need to ruin it with a cat back with big exhaust tips, or droning sound that sounds ridiculous.
Seriously though, the day I let a new member tell me where I'm welcome to chime in or not will be the day I leave Acurazine. In addition, if you think aspec suspension addresses wheel gap...well, then you're almost as delusional as you are condescending.

You have quite a mouth on you...did it come like that stock, or did you mod it?

I only am condescending to one or two particular members here who run their mouths and start a debate in my thread. I am quite a respectful person, but I don't like when somebody comes in some thread I started and tries to change it and take it over.
I know the Aspec only lowers the TL like 1 inch, but I like it. I like the fact that it is OEM Acura/Honda.

Hey, honestly, I'm not trying to convince you that modded is better or worse. I think an aspec TL, any trim with aspecs is a mean looking car. I often say that I wish that I'd stopped modding a long time ago and saved money. But then I'm probably FOS because I love my car
I mean, I had an opportunity to jump to a type S, 6MT like mine and carbon bronze (personal fav)...but in the end, when I test drove it, I felt like I was in my own car and it was like a $15K jump that wasn't worth it to me for cool red color and navi and a bit more power. I still don't regret it.
I also was a little confused at your aim in the original post...seemed like you were feeling out how people felt about your plans for exhaust mods, and also asking people whether or not they bother messing with a type S since it's so nice to begin with.

I really meant , just that, my type S is so nice now, I hardly want to mess it up. I was really asking that, I was going to do stage 1,2, or 3 and cut up my exhaust. I was going to get a jpipe and high flow cats, and maybe gain very little power and maybe get too much exhaust volume. This is exactly what I meant asking people if they really bothered messing with a type S since it is so nice to begin with.
And earlier, one of the condesending posts I wrote was in response to a member questioning me about my Aspec kit to prove that I had the Aspec steering wheel and Aspec badge! What does this matter in this thread!! I was angered that somebody wrote this in this thread about keeping the S stock or not. I still wonder why this member wants to see my Aspec badge (childish). Anyway, I hope the thread can keep going with good ideas on keeping the S clean or modding it and why.

I think once you get older you start to appreciate the value of smooth suspension, not going in drive ways at a angle or your gf/wife saying your exhaust is too loud and annoying. Ive done just about every mode fron lambo doors to inch and half drop of the ground. Rather than spending all my money to sup up a car I just bought one fully loaded

The type s is a nice car stock and will satisfy most people this way, perfectly fine.
I decided to mod mine. Why? Personal preference really.
I've always felt that, while sporty, this car falls apart quickly when pushed or driven spiritedly. The scale is tipped more towards luxury than sport, and I like my sport-lux sedan scale to be tipped more towards sport.
I'll always keep the stock seats, A/C, stereo, etc. (the luxury part to me), but I'm adding performance and suspension (the sport part to me), along with a few cosmetic mods to enhance its already good looks, per my personal taste buds.
To each his own dude. It's your car, so just do as you please be happy and enjoy it
Also, I like how my aftermarket exhaust sounds better than the stock one, so I'm happy with it. Go with what YOU like, and respect others' similar decisions. Appreciate, don't hate

Cant see why stealth civic keeps beating a dead horse.
stealth civic, you're not gonna get any different answers...
its a very simple concept.
either you modify or you dont.
and you sir, stealth, your car is modified whether you like it or not.

Would you be mad if somebody modified a Rolls Royce? It's clearly nicer than a Type-S.
Ruined!
Syke, I kinda like it, you can modify a car that's already nice if it fits your taste. Some people are happy with a bone stock Corolla and only want an appliance, some want to maintain authenticity, some want to enjoy it how they want to enjoy it.

the thing is, any deviation away from the factory is a modification..you even said it yourself.
minor mod. major mod.

no matter how small or how large a modification is; it's still changing the way it came from the factory.

@"let" you...you just gotta do it and turn it back when you turn the car in.
The TL AND S are good examples of me getting a car and "I'm not touching it" and I like the smooth ride and NOPE...must lower, must this, must that. civic...if you want to maintain your view on your car...immediately close your AZ account and never look back. That's a sincere piece of advice. LOL...

^he really wants to mod, he's just on the fence.
the way he posed his initial question; it sounds like he's trying to get a feel for it.
but the thread didnt go the way he wanted it, so then we're dragging out this weird conversation about what people do.
people are crazy and there will be no rhyme or reason on why some one does something.
this morning, he got upset at another poster in another thread, talking about why destroy the luxury TL?
because it makes that certain person happy.
if it makes you happy, keep doing it.

Maj, A poll is a tally where you count opinions...a pole is a tally where you count stacked singles cheddar.
I will say this about the OP's posts...it's pretty evident that he's got a little type S elitist attitude about the car. That'll fade though...
Then again, I have 6MT elitist mentality due to brembo and crazy azz 1 second 0-60 times

Either way you still dont have the full kit in my opinion, but neither do most people here on the forum(myself included), so it's not a bad thing. not sure why you take it so offensively

actually, my insurance does cover oem body kits, i was surprised when I found out. this includes the lip kit, any decklids/trunk wings, etc. must be OEM though.
Did I once ask you to see your aspec badge? I said, only when you have everything I will agree you have the full kit. asking you "where is your aspec badge, brake pads, and steering wheel" doesnt actually mean I want you to take a picture. You call me childish, but I call you "not able to comprehend a sentence".

Honestly, you and Steven Bell should just PM each other back and forth. He's your man.
I'm guessing you're an older demographic?
Also, I purposely do NOT want my car to look like a type S. As a matter of fact, I've changed previous looks/mods expressly to define that it's not a type S. 2004 and PROUD.

Cool , I appreciate the honesty. I like when someone is honest. I asked for people with type S' opinions and I got people rollin in without type S's making comments all over the place!
