Starting to see a pattern here...rage.
Damn, that really sucks. I owe a condo and we have some issues with theft in the parking area. People have had their cars left on bricks. My space is visible from my unit so I installed a video camera and turn it on whenever I'm home. Even with the camera in place I'm still paranoid as hell and look outside anytime I hear a noise. Most of my neighbors know I have the camera because I have it visible from my window. I installed this for added protection.
The only reason I paid out of pocket were for both bumpers and roof since they didnt get touched its not the insurance's problem. I didnt mind paying a bit out of pocket for a quality job that was done right. My overall paint finish looks better then any other new cars out there.

indeed it does. just one of the joys of not owning a home!
Yeah mine included with rent, luckily
I think other renters are subsidizing my utilities honestly, cause I use ungodly amounts of power between my receiver, 600watt amp, 12" sub, fridge, 3 computers running, 6 USB HDD's hahaha
But wait,.. $375 in an apartment? How is that humanly possible? I thought you have to have a house with lights left on in every room to run it up like that

I pay $375 with utilities included, there was no misreading. It's pretty bizarre when credit card companies ask me my monthly housing expense, I bet they think I'm making shit up and that's why I can't get any sort of credit these days
The weird thing about places where it is $2,000 rent --- if you went "ghetto", the difference to your bottom line living in a $850 slum and setting aside the extra $1150 per month is HUGE. I don't see how people in those places don't live in the ghetto without a second thought, there is just too much to be gained. While for me if I downgraded -- I might be able to get a place $325 and save a whooping $50 for suffering everyday living in squalor. That's $50 * 12 months == who gives a shit, I might as well be living it up for the extra $50.
So here is the ironic bit: because living is so cheap, I don't save jack squat and just live it up. While if I later move to a place expensive as hell, and rent is half my paycheck, I'll be living like total shit in the back of a van just because it will be so totally worth it to bank that money and save like crazy.

thread derailed. sorry sharkie!
$850 a month here gets you into an old high rise studio apt in an "ok" neighborhood if you're lucky.
$375...you're sharing a 1 bd/1 ba with 2 other people. hated those days...sharing a 2bd/2 ba with 3 other people....paying $500/mo.
back to sharkie's car...put the damn car cover back on for crying out loud OR MOVE!

i have a feeling i'll lose a lot of paint off the front bumper. lots of spiderwebs.

really hope the cover works. I'd be SCARED to put a cover on, like it draws extra attention and shows you really really care, meaning if some asshole wanker is out looking for a good target you are no longer a 1 in 50 random target but a bull's eye... then again I guess you've already been picked out so doesn't matter at this point

shark- at least you won't have to worry about losing paint on other parts of the car. can't stop the dings or the idiots from "accidentally" tagging your bumper. you can certainly minimize your scratches. i know the cover and the roof rack on my car had saved my car from more damage than there was when the tree branch fell on it this yr. everyone always thinks car covers are a negative attention getter. why can't it be a positive thing? sure it shows you care about your car, and maybe the dumbass that cant' drive might be more careful around it. i get that there are people that just dont' care, but there are a number of people around my neighborhood that have car covers on their treasured cars. granted i dont' live where you live. car covers can be a theft deterrent since most thieves don't want to draw attention to themselves nor want to hassle with a cover. did you install an alarm yet?
This thread is exactly why I spend the extra money on comprehensive insurance. My car was keyed within the first week of owning it at my girlfriends shitty apartment complex. It's full of college kids and some other unmentionables.
Insurance covers it with a 100 dollar deductible.
