SS Shifting
Does anybody find it weird shifting down by pushing the shifter forward and up by pulling it back? Does anybody find it more intuitive to do the opposite like in BMWs? Just wondering on what people have found during their use.

The gear indicator should go up (i.e. from 1->2, 2->3, 3->4, 4->5) when you push forward, and vice versa when you pull back.
Maybe you should take it to your dealer to get that checked out.
Oh Wow! I really should have re-read that thread before posting it. Sorry!! I meant the exact opposite! I think its more intuitive to pull back to shift up and push to shift down. Is this just me? This is the way they do it in BMWs, maybe I've just gotten used it to it...

As a long-time manual transmission driver, I find it very unintuitive to shift manually (a) by always moving the lever in the same direction to upshift or downshift, and (b) without doing anything with my left foot.

I'm guess they were aiming for ease of use over similarity to manual shifting.
I don't find it counterintuitive. In fact, don't you think up would be more related to shifting up and down to down shifting?
Wouldn't a relation between pressing up and shifting down be counterintuitive? (same goes with pressing down with shifting up)
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the main reason this seems more intuitive to me is because of manual gearboxes. Forward for a lower gear, back for a higher when in the same slot, aka, 1-2; 3-4; 5-6. I guess its just everyone's personal preference. Back in the day when i was thinking of buying a 5 series, I read on a forum about a "conversion" to switch it around. Anybody heard of anything like this or if it is possible to do something like this, to switch the direction you have to move the lever to change gears?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
