Squeak in Dashboard?

I own a 05 TL and have noticed this weird squeak noise in the dashboard on the drivers side. It is very noticeable especially when you go over road bumps. Has anyone else have the problem and is it something worth having the dealer look at? Was it repaired? I would hate it if the dash was taken apart. I could live with the squeak.

Give me the heads up.
Thanks

It's not a rattle, but a squeak noise

Rossr,

Most of us understand your issue with the "unwanted noise", and the desire not to have the Dealership "intrusively" messing with the dash. Problem is, unless you are comfortable diagnosing, finding, and fabricating a fix, the dealer (hopefully warranty) is your best course of action.

Exactly where on the drivers side does it sound like its coming from?

1. Gage/cluster area
2. Far left AC vent area
3. Far left sided of dash next to the door
4. Deep inside the dash

Etc, etc.

Hopefully it is very easy to duplicate, IE-when the service folks ride with you so you can point it out. The other hope is the dealership will have fixed the same issue on other TL's, thus has an established process/technique for handling it quickly and proficiently etc..

Let us know

Good luck

My car just developed a squeak in the left AC duct area. When I push on the whole assembly with my hand it stops. How can this be fixed and how does a 2 year old car suddenly develop a squeak like this?

This is a very common area for the 3G TL to have a rattle/squeak. If you grab the entire vent assembly and pull it, it will come out. Drive around and see if your "noise" is gone. If it is, place a little more foam insulation around where the vent merges with the ducting etc.. Check the vent assembly itself for any signs of loose/noisy parts. Many times just a little silicone spray to lube "touching plastic pieces does the trick.

Most rattles can be easily spotted/stopped once you get to the "spot"..

It just pulls out? Ok.....I'll give it a try. It drives me freakin' nuts.
