I'm thinking maybe I should get these, though I don't know if Acura makes them available through their dealers. But I'd hate the thought of a tire throwing a pebble at speed against my paint.

Are these available through Acura dealers and how many of you have installed them?

To Jass1;

Great! I just went out in my car and checked the TL brochure and it does list splash guards as being an Acura product, available from the dealers. I had missed that.

What about the install? On my '02 Altima SE, I had to drill 4 small holes for mounting. Do you need to do something like this with the TL?

I also have had them installed when I purchased my TL ant/5at,wing/18"aspec wheels. They look like they belong on the car not an after thought. Get them before the winter comes or be sorry you didn't.

I have them on my WDP, and they will look very nice on your AM. You can get them at this site, but by the time you order pay shipping, you might be able to negotiate a price with your dealer that will be close to the total mail order price.

They are very easy to install yourself. They come with instructions, and there are no holes to drill.

Check them out here, and see the installation intructions also. http://www.handa-accessories.com/tl.html

I've them on my 6MT since I bought it in last December. Help reduce the dirt and brake dust on the paint. They also looks good on NBP.

To Tom_The_Cop;

Thanks.. I was hoping that would be the case. I much prefer something that will not mess up the beautiful lines on this baby.

To Ron_A;

That's good. I'm not worried about doing the install.. just was hoping I didn't have to do any drilling. Would be like partial destruction to me.

To leo221;

You're right about the little rocks and such. That's what I want to avoid.

To the rest of you, thanks. I'm going to try to get these this week and get them on.

I have them on my SSM. I'm very happy with them, although I'm sure they would look better on darker colors (your AM, for example).

I wish they were color keyed, but Acura doesn't make them this way.

I had them installed at the dealer, but you can easily do them yourself.

Not color keyed? Does than mean they're not the same color as the car??

Hey Varanelli;

I see you're in Chantilly. I suppose you got your TL at Pohanka? That's where I wound up.

Southern Boy:

They are not color keyed. They are all black. On my Anthracite, they looked ok, I thought it would be a sore spot, but it blended in. I was also amazed that it worked so well.

But I ended up getting the OEM kit, so I had to take off the splash guards. I miss them once in a while, when I see gunk on my car spun up by the tires. Oh well, I guess I had to sacrifice something for the kit...=).

From a functionality standpoint it works. From a form standpoint, not so bad, its pretty innocuous.

I went the eBay route and installed them myself. It was pretty easy but you have to have one of those right angle screw dirvers ($1.99 at Home Depot).

Yeah, I got mine in late January. My salesman was David Waters. Very good and very knowledgable--I would buy from him again. I just had my A1 service there. So far they haven't screwed anything up yet.

I think they are practical, but to my eye they are horribly ugly. On the 2002 TL-S they came with the car, so I pulled htem, and painted them to match the satin silver using flex additive in the paint. it looked better, but still ugly.

Unless you drive on farm roads, i do not get the need - the fenders in this car do a good job of containing the tires, IMO. Previous models did not.

Also, beware if you ever plan to remove them - on mine, they had chaffed the paint, as they flexed around independent of the body panels, and over time, the ABS plastic scratched its signature. I would advise putting some sort of backing (velcro prhaps) at the touch points. I was able to buff them out to where one could barely see them, and the old lady who bought my TL-S asked me to put them back on anyway, so that was cool.

Thank you people for your replies. I bought a set early this morning and installed them when I got home. With the anthracite outter finish, they blend in quite nicely. I was surprised how small then were.. which, as long as the work well, is fine with me. I put Nissan units on my '02 Altima and never looked back. But those didn't look as nice as these by any stretch. However, the worked. I had virtually no scratches or marks on the sides of my Altima, so I believe in them.

To KeithL and Shinj1EVA;

Yep, even on the Silver, the guards look fine because they're small and rather subtle. There's a Silver one at my work I noticed yesterday had them on his car and I had never noticed them before.

Nice looking cars.

I agree with RoadRage on this. I took mine off after a week. I liked them on my '87 Integra and '93 Legend Coupe, but on '04 TL, I preferr without it.

I agree with you and Road Rage, too. In the best of things, I would rather not have them to interfere with the super lines of the car. But unfortunately, I drive my car and therefore put it at risk of damage from items thrown up by the tires. So for me, these things become necessary to serve the greater good of saving my car.

I didn't want the mud guards for fear of ruining the styling of the car, but my dealer installed them anyway. I think they were confused because I had them throw in the truck tray, all-season mats, and wheel locks as part of the deal. After they were installed, I figured I'd leave them on, and now I think it looks OK with them. We live in Chicagoland, so the car is probably better off with them anyway once winter gets here.

I have them on my NBP. They blend in and do a great job keeping the rock chips off of the car.

Front Yes, Rear No!

I just installed them on my NBP. The front guards should help keep the doors cleaner, but the rear ones don't seem so promising. After putting on the bracket on one side (the hardest part of the install, when you need the right-angle screwdriver, I backed off and threw away the rears). The guards are much less noticeable in front as well. Interesting to hear that front guards are stock in Canada!

Go for it - that is the main reason I did not get them - black on black is OK, but I did not want black flaps on my car - painting is a good idea. The guards would have protected me from my second chip - down low on the driver door. Oh well...

I was wondering the same thing, I just hope that the painted surface facing the wheel doesn't look nasty or chip from the abuse, or I guess if you tape off part so the tire facing side is not painted.....I want to do it. I guess it won't hurt to try...its only $60 if I don't like it.

And Shawn744, does that mean you are going to rewire the fogs, per the date in your sig?

They blend in real nice on an anthracite car. And they're kind small and unobtrusive.
