Splash guards?
So I just picked up my new TL a couple of weeks ago and am going back on forth on getting the splash guards. I want them for the protection but don't want to ruin the lines of the car. Any thoughts? How do people with them feel? Thanks for any input!

By the way, great forum! Seems like a good bunch of people with a lot of useful information.

Keep Right Except to Pass
They seem to keep the side a lot cleaner, and since the GF is short and her pants tend to rub the side of the car when she gets out, they're probably a very good thing for me to have! I definitely don't think they ruin the lines.

I have them on my RRP and they look fine and do tend to keep the sheet metal a bit cleaner. I've seen them on the Black and Anthracite color cars and they go well with those colors. I think they stand out too much on the lighter colored cars such as white, but it's really a subjective personal preference thing.

I have them on my 05 RRP and they do not do a great job. To be fair,
I suppose it could be worse without the rascals...
I suspect the wide tires will sent up quite a spray whenever you turn
a corner.

Three Wheelin'
Have them on my WDP. I don't think their ruin the lines or stand out too much. They definitely help to keep the rear portion behind the wheel wells cleaner. Again, this is a subjective thing that each one has to decide whether or not they like them.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have an Anthracite TL so it helps hearing from people with the same color. Looks like they're pretty easy to bolt on (just use the screws already there) or did you have them factory installed? I think my dealer wanted $150 for them installed...

They are easy to install. Took me about 30 to 40 minutes. The toughest part are the rears because of lack of clearance. You need a very short Phillips screwdriver or plan on removing the rear wheels to gain access.

The guards are a matte black and with anthracite, they blend right in and you'll will not even give them a mind. I would never think of removing mine.. they do really work quite well with this car.

Do a search on the topic, it's pretty much a split cause some folks like 'em and some don't. I have them on my AM TL and as SouthernBoy said they do blend in quite well. There are a few folks who had them painted to match.

I have them, painted, on my SSM. Nothing blends in better than a painted set. Believe me, they make a huge difference if they are painted.

Painted splashguards
I had my guards last summer at a local body shop who matched the paint perfectly. No problems yet, still looks great! I removed the guards myself and reinstalled them after they were painted. Total cost was about $70.00. I also recomend using some Locktite fastner adhesive because the screws have a tendency to loosen after a while. Check out my slide show link for pictures.

Canadian models
Can anyone confirm change for Canadian 05 models - are front splashguards standard?
Just went to check out my vehicle today which has arrived at the dealer (I will be taking delivery on March 28). Noticed that front splashguards are installed on my car, as well as a number of other TL's on the lot.

Besides keeping your car cleaner, I think splash guards are a courtesy to other drivers. You throw less rocks and mud at other people's windshields. I get really upset when vehicles without them come ripping past me at twice the speed limit and spray rocks from the roads in the air all over.
