Speedometer Glow Gauge

I have a 2005 TL and I travel to the US a lot (I'm in Canada). My kph is showing in big white letters (since that's the country I reside in) and my mph is shown in the small blue numbers that somewhat are difficult to see considering the entire area is in blue LED. I travel a lot and I can barely see the mph unless I put it on maximum brightness which stings my eyes, but it seems to be the only thing that lets me SOMEWHAT clearly see the mph.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Is it possible to put in a new (reverse) glow gauge? If anyone has done this before, could they maybe show me pictures of theirs and the exact name/model they bought because I've tried googling for days and can't find anything.

I've also called two Acura dealerships and they told me that it was a design flaw and not a tech problem so there's no fixes and there's nothing they can do about it and they recommended that I just consider buying another Acura which would resolve the problem all together - yeah no thanks!

Any detailed advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Why dont you just put the brightness level high enough that you can see but wont hurt your eyes?

Because the mph is so small and in blue that it kind of blends with the rest of the blue LED. Also, even on maximum brightness it's not bright enough.

Can you changed out the blue LED's for another color? Say white?

I have a Canadian 06 and its the same way .. near impossible to see the blue MPH.

And changing the speedo isn't an option because I don't think the US ones have the KPH and it would be the same issue .. can't read the KPH.

This along with a few others are some of the poorly thought out designs in the car.

My US TL also has KPH indicators, but "its the same way .. near impossible to see the blue" KPH, compared to the white MPH markings!

why not get an aftermarket US MPH guage and mount it on the pillar so you can see MPH when driving in the US, and see KMH on the regular gauge cluster.

If you travel in the US a lot, wouldn't it be worth while to figure out roughly what mph are to kph. Common speeds are:
65 Mph ~ A little more than 100 kph = exactly 104.6 kph
55 Mph ~ about 90 kph = 88.51 kph exact
45 Mph ~ about 70 kph = exactly 72.42 kph
35 Mph ~ about 55 kph = exactly 56.33 kph
25 Mph ~ about 40 kph = exactly 40.23 kph

If you know what Mph is in kph, then there's no reason to look at the little blue Mph.

Wasn't there a nav hack that showed mph on the nav screen?
Maybe I'm just thinking about my Garmin , I now it can show mph.

There was a hack that showed instant MPG. Maybe that's what you were thinking of.

For the OP, most mobile GPS devices probably show mph, so if you don't mind spending a couple hundred bucks for one, that's an easy solution. My Iphone has an app that shows mph/kph and it's pretty accurate.
