Speeding ticket not found in the system

I checked online and over the phone, looked by citation #, my name birthday, driver's license #. I live in South Florida. It's been 27 days since I got it.

Do I still have to pay??

I would definetely take the ticket to the clerk of courts and see what has gone wrong, if you dont pay it then you could lose your license. Its all up to you, but i would definetly try to resolve the problem before anything more serious happens.

This happens quite a bit. Usually it will show up and you'll have to pay. Call the court if possible.

About 8 years ago I got a ticket out of state. I called to pay it over the phone a few weeks later and they said they didn't have a record of it. I naively thought I hit the jackpot. A few months later and I got a final notice to pay or they would suspend my license. There was a late fee too but since it was a small town the court clerk actually went to the judge for me and they waived so I was able to just pay the normal amount.

Best thing to do is to show up on the date issued by the officer and if the court still has no record of it, then ask for proof that you were there. The court should give a form that you have no case pending against you. If the ticket got lost in the paper shuffle on its way to the court, when found you should get a new court date. Next thing is to go back online and print out the screen that said "No citation found" or something like that, also for your file. So if the day comes and you get a final notice, you have ammo to fight it instead of working into the court empty handed.

From what I understand, it may take a while before the ticket will "show up"" in the system. The best bet is to not miss the court date (if you plan on fighting it). If you don't plan on fighting it you should contact the county when it is nearing the due date to check if it is in the system yet. If it is still not in the system try to get something in writing so that you will be waived the late fees if the ticket ever shows up. When I received my ticket for rolling the stop sign, the ticket did not show up until about 1 month after the payment due date. So the ticket is there, just not in the system yet.

This happened to me in January. I suggest you go to the Court before the appearance date and talk to the clerk. Bring your ticket and have them stamp the ticket so you can prove that you tried to handle the ticket in person. I had to drive 40 miles to deal with my ticket and then received the Courtesy Notice a few days after the original court date. If you get a late Courtesy Notice, save the envelope so you can easily show that it was late by referring to the post-mark.

I don't want to spend the time to fight it, plus on the ticket it stated court date "to be set". Instead, I decided to contact this place I heard of from a friend that used them, Traffic Ticket Office, Inc, down here in Miami. $69, over the phone, gave citation #, my address, and credit card. No points, no $160 fine, no court and no traffic school.

I'll update and let everyone know how that goes. Thanks for the responses.
