A-Spec package...
A-Spec package...
Hey guys. I'm going to be purchasing the new TL very soon prolly in the next few months or so. Anyway i'm thinking about whether or not i should get the A-Spec package along w/ the ride. I know it gives it a totally different look and more of a sportier look as well. I'm writing to see if it'll be worth the extra money. Speaking of the money how much will it acutally cost if i get the A-Spec. I want the 5spd. Automatic w/ the decklid spoiler. I called my local Acura dealer and they were saying around $5,000 extra. And then i went to Build and Price on the website and it only comes up to about $3,000. So as you can prolly tell i'm a lil confused.
Also what is the most pop. color combination that's out there. If you could reply back i would appreciate it greatly.
Thanks in advance,
2001 Acura 3.2 CL Type S

If you want A-Spec just for the looks then go for body kit, will be cheaper. OEM bodykit can be had for $800 on the Internet and decklid for about $300. The most popular color is Anthracite with Ebony interior.
Anthracite and Silver Satin Metallic (SSM) are the most popular exterior colors. I agree with jog, it sounds like you're more interested in the looks than the performance of the A-Spec, I'd recommend just buying the OEM bodykit.
Good luck with your purchase!

It's a lil of both
Thanks for replying guys. It's actually a lil of both. I want the looks as well as performance. So if i do just go w/ the body kit (by the way what does OEM mean), then that's going to run around $1,100 or $1,200. So what would it be for the A-Spec?
I'm also waiting around to see what changes will be made to the 05 TL when it comes out in Oct. along with the RL

A-Spec is $5K plus installation ($800) at most dealers. It includes body kit (front, rear, side), suspension (Coil-over springs and shocks), rear spoiler, 18" wheels, A-spec steering wheel, A-Spec Badging. You can buy peice parts off the internet for less. If you truely are interested in the performance, you can but the suspension for $600 off eBay. The body Kit can be acquired in the same manner for around $800. The rear deck lid (or spoiler) run around $230 for the knock off (identical with no Acura emblem underneath). Installation on the suspension is normally $400, you can put the body kit and spoilers on yourself easily enough. So for around $2,100 you can have pretty much all the important parts but the 18" upgraded wheels by doing it yourself. If you MUST have the A-Spec wheels, they are another $1,100 + tires (Figure $500). Grand total $3,700 and saves you about $3,000 from the dealer doing it. Of course you get all your old parts back so if you can sell them on eBay you can re-coup some of it (the 17" wheels with tires are going for a loww $700 about now on eBay). Total cost to have 95% of an A-Spec...$3,000. Of course you will need to shell out a few actual dollars (instead of financing them)...

Unfortunately, the A-spec ride is harsher than the TypeS .. which I thought was perfect. Apparently this A-spec suspension really is meant more for a track, and less ride-quality-critical daily drivers.

To read one member's review of the A-Spec suspension, as compared to the regular suspension, here is neuronbob's view:

PossibleTL,
You didn't mention whether you are getting Navi or not. I have a 6MT w/navi on order from Flow in Winston. I am paying $39200 plus tax for A-spec, floor mats, trunk tray, and wheel locks. I was also talking with Hendrick Acura there in Charlotte, but they were tired of haggling with me on the phone and would not deal anymore until they got my credit card number, so I went with Flow.
The discrepancy you have found between the website and dealer quotes is the website's build&price does not let you put on the suspension, steering wheel, or badge, and you also have to add on installation fees.
Hope this is helpful.
