A-Spec Install

Greetings Everyone,
Does anybody know how much they usually charge to install the A-spec body kit for an 04 TL? I called the Acura Dealer they want $408 + Tax for 4hrs labor. I know there is a DYI for this but am afraid to make holes in front bumper with no experience.

Also, do you any reputeable bodyshop in philly area that will do it for reasonable price?

Thanks in advance!

It really is that easy like every member says. But just like you, I felt doubts and wanted to get a shop to do it just in case. I would just recommend you to find a member through Acurazine to help you out. Most of our members don't mind helping others just in exchange for some beer and hoping that you're straight!

just do it yourself, really the instructions are good and its not hard just time consuming. i was worried about doing at first also but after acura told me $400 i said hell with that. plus u also get the added piece of mind its done right by u instead of rushed thru or something skipped or damaged by someone else.

Wow!! Thanks for quick response!

Also, since you guys installed the kit yourself, which part do you think is the hardest to install? and How much time do you think I need at the most?

I just installed mine last weekend. Not bad at all. The back bumper was kind of a pain in the ass but over all it wasnt bad.

If you can read directions and use a drill and sockets then go for it.

Otherwise the pay the money and be done with it.

^ hell I am not paying $400 + to the dealers to install a $640 kit but it would be awesome if I can find a good auto shop that charge about $200 at most. If not I will attempt to install it myself.

def would say rear bumper since you must remove it etc

i took my time with it tho, overall wasnt bad. easiest id say were the sides... hell do those first. tip for rear side skirt screws.. use an angle phillips head so u dont have to remove the rear tire

to protect the kit from scratches i just unwrapped one piece at a time and then sat it on the foam stuff it came in.

well the front u drill a couple holes underneath and can do it w/o removing the bumper.

the rear you need to drill 4 holes across the center of the bumper and of course removal is detrimental

just put my aspec kit on in the past few days... not very hard at all... i agree on being scared to drill, but once you got one hole drilled, youre past the point of no return, so just go for it!!!

if you hang out on here long enough, i'm sure a few PA guys will show up... I know of a couple that have just put kits on in the last few weeks that'd probably help ya out! good luck!

For those of you self-installing, what drill bits did you use if not metric ones? Did you just convert? Any issues?

Well, you definately need to remove the front bumper to install it if that helps... Still not very hard though

I just converted it. Its not the space shuttle, you just have to make the holes big enough for the bolts to get through.

DIY FTW.

Rear was hardest, sides were SUPER easy. Having a freind helps. Having a right angle screw driver helps for the rear unless you want to remove the wheels to get your hands in there.

Convert the drill bits, as mentioned above, the tolerences aren't that exacting.

Quick conversion from what I remember off the top of my head:

3mm = 1/8"
6mm = 15/64"
10mm = 25/64"
12mm = 15/32"

This is helpful too:

^ Perfect! thanks.

Btw, I will be installing A-spec body kit, door visors, and roof visors. I just read the installation instructions, it seems pretty easy. Not as hard as I thought it would be...but we will see.

I live in Philly too... I'm gonna be attempting the A-Spec install this weekend, but I'll be doing it at my parents house in Bear, De!

I am still waiting for my A-Spec to ship in. Which I think it will be here next Monday. The problem with me is that I don't have a Garage so I will have to do it on the street in front of my house.

Anyway, thanks for the videos. I am gonna watch it when I get home.

I got in installed @ the dealer and they were able to work a much better price with me ($255 for labor, that's it). Simply didn't have the time and I was uneasy about drilling too. But as everyone has said, if you can get someone who has done it already to help u out, that should work just fine.

I'm gonna be putting it on piece by piece in the next few days too, starting with the sides. The assurances found in this thread does make me feel a bit more at ease.

Note* on the instructions, it says the front should only be installed if ambient temp is 60f or 15c. Now its still kinda chilly here in Canada. Is this really something important? If I install it now, will it warp when it gets warmer?
