A-spec bodykit installed
A-spec bodykit installed
Hey everyone after a long discussion and debating on which kit to buy for my TL, I purchased the A-spec kit from my dealership. The parts guy recommended a bodyshop to install the kit, got a better quote from them also. Had the bodyshop install the kit looks good, except the front lip, seems that it didn't fit as snug as the other parts of the kit. The owner of the shop said if I still didn't like how it looks after a few days bring it back and they would use a special bodyglue to put it on, he said the only drawback is that it would be hard to take off if I plan to sell the car !! I for now don't plan to sell the car, should I have the kit glued on for a better fit ?. Oh, by the way, driving around where I live I've been getting looks from other TL owners, they have that funny look of... it looks like a TL but somethings different, one kid actually stop me,asked how much was the kit, he has the RRP TL, he's thinking about getting the kit, I told him about this site also. I don't know but I may also go for the RonJon kit within 2 years from now. But for now I have other plans for my TL
Rather than opting for the body glue, why not get the 3M double sided tape and have them re-apply it on your front lip? From reading posts from others on here who have used it, the tape is holding up quite nicely compared to OEM tape. And if they're going that route, have them re-apply the 3M tape on the rear bumper, too.
I agree with mn2trance . 3M double sided tape does work very good. Maybe have them heat up the lip with heat gun, that will make it mold even better. You got to put some pics up! Can't have a car like that without showing it off
Mine fit nice and tight. I used some extra 3m double sided tape on the front lip and rear bumper. You won't be able to remove the rear bumper ever, unless you replace the whole rear bumper. They drill holes in it.
I agree with everyone here. The 3M double sided will fix the gaps for you. More info can be found in the 3G TL Garage.
Why would you want to take off the kit if you plan on selling the car? The A-Spec kit increases the value of your car. You can't take off the A-Spec rear skirt anyway without leaving holes. The holes left from the A-Spec front lip installation is at the bottom of the car and is more bearable.
You should still be okay if you decide on going with RonJons in 2 years since RonJons are bumper replacement kits (as opposed to skirts). You'll need to remove the old bumpers (front and rear) and replace them with RonJons.
Good luck!

If you price a used car with A-Spec on KBB it's a little higher than without, if you ever want to sell.I agree with the looks. A kid (probably a high schooler) came up to me at the gas station recently and commented on how hot my car looks.
