View Poll Results: A-Spec Aero Body Kit - Yea or Nay?
The 3G TL is vanilla without it.

A-Spec Body Kit... Too much "flair"?

I know it's a very popular modification within the TL enthusiast community, but I find that the A-Spec body kit doesn't do a whole lot for the 3G TL. I mean, I wouldn't remove it from the car if it was installed by a previous owner, but I can't see spending the money on one of these aero body kits over, say, upgraded suspension or towards forced induction.
[This discussion does not pertain to the A-spec performance (suspension, HP brake pads, etc) and wheel upgrades.]
I know it's all about personal taste, but the car's design can hold it's own without adding the extra "flair". What do you think? A-Spec
, or Nay-Spec
?

However, I do agree with you that the TL's natural lines look great exclusive of the A-SPEC kit.

the TL's lines do look great from the factory, it looks formal and sporty. The a-spec kit turns the TL into more of a sporty and aggressive looking car and less formal.

I see other TL's without the a-spec and I'm glad I have one. If for nothing else, it makes the car look different from all the others I see in my area. I really want to see if Acura will offer it for the 4G and how it will look.

IMHO and I now have owned both. The A-Spec body kit on the 2004-2006 TL's look better then the 2007-2008 A-Spec body kit on the Type-S. The front is way TOO bulging. The A-Spec body kit on the base 2007-2008 TL looks very good also. But the base 2007-2008 TL is softer then the 2004-2006. IMHO The 2006 Manual is the best of the 3RD GEN TL's. Sure the Type-S 3.5 liter is great.

The 2002 TL Type-S, shown above in crazyasiantl's avatar, looks great with the additional body panels. The design of that car needed something to spice it up some, and those panels did a lot to improve things in that department. I wouldn't own a 2G without the OEM aero kit.
I'm a big fan of the German design teams that have cooked up the beautiful lines of the most recent BMW and MB sedans. Unless you are fortunate enough to have the bread to pick up a M-series or AMG package car, you will find that most of them have the same idea... Spare the "flair"...
Again, it's not that I dislike the A-Spec aero kit... I'm just diggin' the way the base car looks without it.

i'm def. diggin the stock look of the TL when slamed to the ground.. Looks very conservative, yet classy. With the a-spec kit on, it's just really aggressive. I wish there were more kit options out there. Possibly something more subtle. All the kits we've seen for the TL is "Aggressive". There is not 1 body kit out there that makes the TL look even MORE luxury and ViP/EXE, unfortunately . SIGH...

The results of my poll really aren't that surprising. Those mentioning that the A-Spec kit sets their car apart from the others are not stretching the truth. It seems that a rather large percentage here have the kit installed, even though I have only seen a small handful on the streets of the Sacramento region. And... being a casual observer here, I didn't even notice that the front lip spolier is a bit different between the '04-'06 and the '07-'08 models. This must be due to the relocation of the fog lamps.
ILLustriousUA6 made a comment that I agree with. When the car is dropped an inch or two, I think that is what really makes the base car look it's best. The aero kit takes some of that allure away for me.

The Acura TL is the 2nd best selling entry luxury car. The TL is all over the freakin place on the road. I see at least 2-3 per half an hour of driving. 90% of the drivers out there are non-enthusiasts using their car as a family/commuter car. Almost every car I see on the freeway is bone stock. The ones with the mods are the ones that turn my head, I'm always lookin for an acurazine sticker.

When we first starting looking at TL's I was sure I'd put the lip kit on it. I have the OEM lip kit on my 1998 Prelude and it makes the car look 100x better. I really like the look of the 04-06 TL lip kit. It definitely adds a nice aggressive touch to the car. Unfortunately, (in terms of the lip kit), we ended up with a 2007 TL. The 07-08 base model front lip is a total waste of money IMO. You can hardly even tell it's there. Same goes for the 09 TL lip kit. I'm pretty disappointed in Honda's lip kits in general as of late. What used to be pieces that actually put an extension onto the car making it physically lower to the ground have become tacky pieces of plastic that just tape over the stock body panels.
