Southern California Acura dealers that give out loaners?
Took my car into Power Acura of South Bay to get my car fixed after something hit it on the freeway, and they told me they didn't even have their own body shop. I also figured they wouldn't be giving me a loaner. Santa Monica Acura used to list "loaner" when you were making a service or body shop appointment, but they no longer have "loaner" listed as one of the options. Are dealers in the SoCal area not giving out loaners at all?

Santa Monica Acura does have loaner cars for service (not oil changes) and for warranty work with an appoitment....most dealers don't have body shops...only they can refer you to one.

service department uses loaner cars to get the basic 1 day maitenance service type customer out of the waiting room and on with their life- keeps them from seeing what is really being done and how little/long it really takes.
so at the dealers own expense= even on warranty claims- puts you into a loaner car whenever its possible- they have a limited number of cars.
They dont go pull an fresh new car off the sales lot for you to destroy for the day----
Body shops - I worked at 1 and never heard of free loaner thru them,
normally on crash situation, the insurance company pays for a rental- it can easily take a month or 2 for all the paperwork to get approved and repairs started- then more repairs needed are discovered- more paperwork- approval- job completion- return to customer
check with your insurance agent or read the policy

Should have loaner cars if you are doing major tune up or other services. I know for oil changes usually they don't....well at this dealership I go to from what I know. If no loaner cars, they will have a 3rd company like a car rental and let you rent a car. OR a shuttle service. But ya usually loaner car or car rental.

The EPA and Ca. laws on environmental protection in storage and use of paints and related chemicals- how/where you store them- the vapor recovery of paint booth fumes--
all the laws are getting tougher, and many small shops cant deal with the expense or liabilty- especially in major smog city areas where there are additional rules.
With the dealers real money maker- the service dept- already incurring greater expense in used oil and coolant storage- add the freon laws for the car AC systems, and disposal of old parts- the cost are staggering.
To buy underground tanks and above ground oil storage- have the used stuff removed/emptied- then all documented for the govt paperwork checker that comes by, and oh man- dont spill any of those things!!! or face a spanking in the pocketbook!!!
Its no wonder dealer has converted the old bodyshop building into a techs work area for repairs, and the body shops are large places to cover the overhead cost

Sierra Acura at Alhambra gave me a "loaner" when I dropped off my car there for A-Spec body Kit installation. However, I bought my car there at Sierra Acura. I heard some dealers only give you loaner when you bought your new Acura there. =)

I think Acura 101 will give you a loaner, although im not sure. I didn't by my 04 there and always asked for a loaner, their first question was my age not whether or not I bought my car from there. This led me to believe that if I was 21 or over they would have let me go home with a loaner.
Thousand Oaks Acura said that they will only give loaners out if you purchased the car at their dealership.

Planet Acura in Buena Park (they used to be in Downey) gave me a loaner for my 3rd gear TSB (I have a 6MT). I dropped off my car on April 25th, but there was a national backorder for the tranny parts. It's already May 15th, and I still have the loaner car.
The service guy said that they have a fleet of loaner cars and even though they wouldn't be able to fix my car right away, I should drop mine off and get a loaner (they gave me a TSX) because they are hard to come by. LOL, I've put about 1300 miles on it, and I received it with 150 miles.
(BTW, this is the dealership I bought my car from, so that could be a factor as well)
