Sounds like AC Compressor Kicking on even when AC is off
Does anyone have this same scenario. It doesn't happen when the car is first started, but as soon as you pull off and sounds like the a/c compressor is kicking in. I know on my 2001 CL-S it would make a slight whining noise, but I was told this had something to do with the gas pressure/vapors or something like that. This noise now on the TL sounds like the a/c compressor clutch kicking in.. Give me your thoughts.

I can not hear the compressor kick in, but once when I returned to my car I saw a ribbon of water like ACs make when they drain. I was wondering if AC works when in Auto mode even without the AC button pushed?

an Acura has-been
It only happens once when you first start the car and are pulling away, correct?
If so this is the ABS self test, I felt the same thing, it feels like something is acutuating and a clunk/vibration.
Dealer said it was ABS check, also other posts said it happens on the 03 / 04 accord and was well disucussed on vtec.net
Hope this helps!

Yes that is right it was the ABS, but this doesn't sound the same as the ABS. This clearly sounds like the compressor clutch kicking in. Anyone else know what I am talking about that has the 2004 TL?

R U guys talking about the "flap" sound while you first reach 10 MPH after you start the engine?
Tons of threads talking about this... I asked this on Oct. There are many guys saying it's ABS stuff... Acura said it's normal...
I ever described that sound as weird steering-moving, compressor-cracking, or flap sound. It only happens once around 10 MPH after the engine starts. That noise you here on cold start is the ABS cycling and skid control running a self-diagnostic.
Lots of Honda vehicles have this kind of sound, however, I just cannot believe 04TL has it and even louder.

I'm with ya'. I heard the same thing yesterday. I was standing outside talking and thought the defroster was on or that the climate control was on auto; not the case. It would run for 30 seconds or so and then shut off for 10-15 and then clunk, back on again for another 30. I shut off the climate control with the exception of the heat at 80 degrees, floor and fan speed 2. The AC indicator was off and it still did it......

copter,
You seemed to talk about something different. It's about the compressor keeps working even though you turn off the AC... ??
Are you sure it's not two fans trying to cool down your engine and radiator?
They would work periodically like this, right?
