Sorry, Gotta Ask...........

I keep seeing reference to a glove box light. I don't seem to have one. (I have looked at the manual and I don't see it mentioned, but could have missed it! I have an '08 Type S. Should I have a glove box light?

While I'm asking, what is the sensor on the back of the inside rear view mirror?

Thanks!

The glove box light should only come on when the headlights are on. Its not very bright so u might not even notice it during the day.

The sensor on the back on the rear view mirror is a light sensor for the auto-dim mirror.

Dude, go outside get in the car, open the glove box and turn your headlights on.....you have light!!! The sensor in the rearview is to dim the mirror when a car has his lights on behind you at night.

OK, I see the light! (I was looking for the old style push button switch activated light.)

Now, tell me, how does a sensor on the back of the mirror control the dimming of the mirror? Reflection of light off the windshield?

what the mirror does is measure ambient light outside, when it is dark, the mirror dims so headlights behind you do not bother you. In the day-time, it acts as a regular mirror.

The sensor that detects light for the headlights is on the dashboard straight ahead of you behind the gauges. It's a little black square.
