It looks like it has a base grill....which might explain the REALLY cheap price.

Front end collision?

yup, exactly what i was thinking. type s grill has a that black chrome type finish. the fogs looks a little misplaced as well - stick out more so than usual, but i can't really tell much. definitely must've been in some sort of front end collision.

Looking at some other TL base and S models I see what you guys are talking about. The grill and the fog lights. The whole front bumper is different.

The fogs curve up on the sides like its grining. The S models curve down like its mad.

Yeah, definitely a possible collision. It has the whole base model front end.

It has a salvage title according to my carfax. Any 07 Type-S you see under $27000 should throw a red-flag up.

I know because I've been shopping for a used 07 Type-S for the last 4 months.

Different trim on the grill & trim (not black chrome), different bumper (TLS Fogs have the opposite angle on the outside edge). That MAY be a TLS underneath but the front end is strictly Base. SCAM!

Good eye though, and even better that you asked.

Yeah I kinda figured there was something wrong with the grille. Sucks for whoever buys it thinking they are getting a great deal on a TL-S, when in reality they are buying a TL-S which has been in a previous accident, not to mention the possibility of a salvaged title, and they are buying a TL-S with a base TL front I don't think this car has a salvaged title though, cause the dealership would have to diclose it, plus, 99% of all banks won't finance branded title vehicles, so this might have to be cash purchase, yup CASH purchase. Anyone have $27 G's laying around...haha

Look at the dealer name: Autosource Motors. That is an independent dealer. Trust me man, any Type-S you see on Autotrader, Ebay or Cars.com less than $27,000 make sure you run a carfax. A lot of independents are selling Salvage title cars.

There are a couple salveaged ones on Autotrader besides this one. Look for an MRP 07 Type-S that has about 4K miles on it and the price is $26,900. Too bad Carfax says there is potential odometer fraud due to it being stolen. The seller "Imports Unlimited" in Conn. ( I think that is the state) has the previously mentioned MRP and a WDP that also has a salvage title.

If you see a good price under $27,000 run the Carfax. Hell, run one anyway.

Well there you have it ladies and gents...It does have a salvaged title. I am surprised they did not disclose that in the description. Althought to be honest with you $25k for a salvage title 08 TL-S seems like tooooo much money! Salvaged title vehicles are usually worth 50%-60% of Blue book. Assuming this vehice could sell for $35 at the dealership (which it wouldnt cause people have been buying them for $33k-$34k) Then car should be selling for $17k-$21k....would anyone buy it at that price?????

I agree. The first hurdle is getting a competitive rate auto loan for an independent dealer. Considering most finance companies will not loan out for a vehicle with any form of a branded title, how do these independent dealers w/ salvage title cars think someone can pay $20k+ for a car? You would have to pay cash. Ridiculous.

Bumper actually matches, in one photo it looks brighter. WDP is yellower on bumpers than body.

Satin Grills instead of the chrome ones.

Front bumper is misaligned too

got the answer

These vehicles are rebuilt restored not salvaged title cars. There is a huge difference! Our cars have been inspected by the state for compliance for safety & being repaired properly. So if a little paint work doesn't bother you. you can save alot of money? Let me know if I can help. Also I give special internet discounts if you ask for me only.

Wow...he's saying that they are NOT salvaged titled cars...
Didn't a member on this forum run a arfax and the carfax shows SALVAGED? I wonder if this dealership is being honest now?????

He's kind of bending the truth (or, is that a lie). I have a salvage vehicle currently. I bought it totalled and put a front clip on it. In order to register the car I had to take it to the Ohio Highway patrol office and have it inspected. They look over the vehicle, check receipts and vin numbers, etc. So yes, you CAN have a car deemed roadworthy and have a salvage title.

HOWEVER, the title is still branded as salvage or whatever that particular state issues the title as. Some states word it differently. But, a rotten apple is still a rotten apple.

I actually live in Utah and test drove this TL. The salesman told me what was replaced on it and I wrote down the codes I saw on his vehicle list. It showed H, LF, FB, BC, G, LHL, R. Don't remember all that these stand for, but it sounds like it was hit on the front driver side. I also got the carfax from the dealer and it looks like it was bought in Oregon and totalled there also. Don't deal with this dealership though. They completely rubbed me the wrong way. I was able to negotiate the price down to $22,100, but when I came back two days later, the prick said he misquoted me and couldn't make any money on it if he sold it for that. I was so pissed...I had even been approved by my bank to buy it. Anyway, I'm glad it turned out like it did, because with what I have read in this forum about rebuilt titles I could have been getting a lemon.
