This has crossed my mind. It will require lots of work, money, effort, but it seems it is a possibility. That would be awsome, unless theres something about the car that can not be messed with/modified......

im sure its crossed many peoples minds because FWD is basically a sports car enthusiasts nightmare/burden but i don't think that the RWD conversion would be worth the money it would probably make more sense to get an AWD car or a RWD car

its just something i wish that can happen, if i had the money i'd convert it to a RWD,engine mods (maybe one turbo, no twin or supercharger), suspension, drivetrain, weight reduction, but i keep the exterior completely stock, make it a sleeper....

the cost would be pretty hefty as this is no bolt on process. why not just buy a rwd car? you can get a G35 coupe, M35 sedan, IS350, 330i which are all rwd. it will be cheaper and better(in terms of reliability).

yes just buy a new car. the money you spend modifying it could be enough to to pay the difference in a trade.

well, i'd get a G35 Coupe if my mom worked at nissan headquarters....but she doesn't. She works at Honda Headquarters so im stuck with hondas and acuras, which i love. my mom gets some kind of employment thingy discount something???? and i chose the TL for my car...

besides, I think the UA6 looks way better, the only problem i have with the TL is the FWD.........it really kills it for me

It would still prolly cost you less to get a new G35 coupe then succesfully convert the TL to rear wheel drive. You are talking about reconfiguring the engines position, reconfiguring the tranny(prolly buying a different type, which would have to be retro fitted. putting in a drive shaft, re-routing all the under car equiptment, messing with the frame, redoing the entire rear suspension. Redoing all the control systems, changing the ECU, changing the front suspension, and steering. It would probably cost more the 40K and 10000 Man hours to get it to work out correctly, and it still is unlikely to handle as well as a G35 or any other RWD car. It IS doable, but so is converting your car into a biplane. My advice, is focus your finances on something else.

Would you really spend all that time just to get RWD. It's not that big of an advantage.

well, then acura should get into RWD.....my opinion hehe, but i hope they do soon, I feel like the rear tires are just there to drag the car, i want them to work too....theres too much work for the front end of the car

Why are you complaining? You have a nice car for a first car, leave it at that. Later on in life you can buy a nice RWD car, but its not nessecary for someone who just got their lisence.

BLeh, can't edit my post. Besides being a great car for what it is, I doubt it would be too feasible considering the car is a unibody and designed with specific crumple zones that would be affected. Plus you would be unable to sell the car later on. Most people will not want a car that was hacked up like that.

Thats true, unless you did a perfect job and had it reviewed for safety. If you want a nice RWD, get the Hayabusa, for 11k, topping out at 186 MPH, its a pretty good deal, and it handles better then any "other car" on the road could ever hope to handle for at least the next 20 years.

Ha, you got a New TL and you are under 16. You should be happy, very happy. In fact, if you ever complain about anything thats not a problem... Congrats on being spoiled, I wish I was spoiled. LOL. Have fun with it, you are one lucky kid.

Just because you get something nice doesn't mean your spoiled. Yeah, a number of kids with nice things are spoiled, but there are those that can appreciate what they have.

And believe me I want a RWD car too. I am even looking at buying and old RX-7 convertable, which is a lot less than a conversion of this nature, but unfortunately the cost of maintaining two vehicles is prohibitive at this point in life.

haha this guy is right, im not spoiled. you dont know what i had to do to get the TL, and its not even mine yet. as of now its my mom's daily driver. since 7th grade i've had bad grades (of course F's and my highest was a B-). everytime i discussed to my parents about what car i want, they always denied it until i made a deal with them. starting my 10th grade year (2004-2005) i'd get at least all B's. and it was for a TL. and guess what, I get all A's except for 1 B in spanish....hehe, im that eager to drive i'm not spoiled at all, i worked hard for the TL and if i maintain my grades, i'd be able to trade in the current TL for the 06 and add the accesories i want

by the way, i didnt know RX-7 had convertible versions...........

grades are hard work? you get a car for getting better than a b-. i dont want to bag on people who are well off, they worked hard. but getting a fucking 35000 dollar car for some fucking high school grades??? that isnt hard work, dont make it out to be hard work.

The duct tape alone would cost thousands.

wait till the AWD TL comes out, then get one and disconnect the front half-shafts. Bingo, rear drive only!

'Busas don't handle all that well compared to any other true sport bike, they are just fast.. The best handling are any of the big 4, 600 SS bikes. Best 1000+ are the Kawasaki Ninja 10R and the Suzuki GSXR 1000. Yamaha R1 and Honda 1000R are no slouches either.

Watch any AMA motorcycle road race where the race machines have to be based on a street legal machine, and check out the non-sponsored riders, from 11th place back and they will be 99% Suzukis

And motorcycles in general do not handle as well as cars.. It is a matter of physics. A motorcycle can only do 1G lateral force, after that the tires slip and you go down.

They can go farther from outside to inside to outside on a corner which helps, and with lean ratios and the movement of center of in a lean the effective lateral G force can be up to around 1.4G,, maybe 1.8 with real racing slicks up to temp.. But any decent handling car can do 1.4, Corvettes and real sports cars 1.8, and a Honda Civic with coilover conversion can reach 2.0 with street legal tires. Full road race cars,, GTA, GTB, F1, CART can hit over 3Gs lateral.

Thanks for the Bike info. And I was being sarcastic about the spoiled thing. I mean, for its size. Try weaving like one would on a bike in a car, its gonna mess you up. Its smaller so you can get in and out more quickly. What you are saying about the G pulling makes sense, the more rubber on the road the more traction. Which bike is the best combination of speed and handling(money not being an object)?
