Somebody broke my Mirror!

aaarrrrgggghh,

I went to Walmart an hour ago, and when I went back to the car,
the driver side mirror was broken and folded in.
Can't stand people who do that and don't even leave me a note...
(unless it was on purpose)

does anybody know how much does it cost to replace
that heated mirror ?

thanks

My deductible is $500, so it doesn't help.

Plus I just put a claim for repairing my car;
as a lady rear ended me in May. total cost : $11,500!
(the car is as good as new, minus diminishing value, which the lawyer is working on right now)

The mirror is about $186.60. It comes painted already. It's very easy to install and you do not need to remove the door panel.

I had to change my passenger mirror on my SSM after only a week of ownership.

You can purchase it here:

http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...prddisplay.jsp

If you need any help on installing it just ask me. I might have some pictures that I took on how the inside where the mirror bolts on looks.

What exactly is broken? Just the glass itself? If that's the case than you can just replace that. That part is $17.91.

Only the glass broke...
the dealer wants $26.89 for the part
but told me it would be around $90 to install!

I know there is a heating element attached to it but,
is it hard to install it yourself? (what tools do I need?)

thanks all.

Here is the picture.

That part is only $17.91 at the link I provided. You can just change out the mirror piece. You just need to pop the mirror piece off with a flat head screw driver, I think. I forgot how though. Maybe someone with a manual can help out.

1. Adjust the mirror fully to the inward position.
2. Insert a long, thin flat screw driver between the alignment tabs on the mirror holder. Slide the tip of the screwdriver between the mirror holder and actuator.
3. Quick twist the screwdriver to separate the mirror holder from the mirror actuator.
4. Insert it further under the mirror holder and twist it again.
NOTE: do not pry up on the mirror holder to separate the two parts.

Sorry I cant scan the page for you as I don't have a scanner at home.

P.S.: The above was taken from the Service Manual.

Since I've scanned half the rest of the Service Manual for other projects, why stop now.

Great!
I got all I need now. (I'll get the mirror piece and install it)
with the money I save on labor I can still buy the service manual and have money left.
(is there a cheaper place to get the manual?)

thanks all for the help, this forum keeps getting better and better.

I will take pictures of the process and post them when I'm done.
This will be an invaluable help to others as well.

90 dollars to install?? damn you gotta love how dealers work. it does not take an hour to install a new mirror. if dealers would just price more reasonably i think they would get more business and have more satisfied customers.

Most dealers use a flat rate book for repairs, and any competent mechanic can beat the book by quite a margin, thus increasing profits. If you're lucky enough to find a mechanic that charges actual labor rates..latch onto that guy and don't let him go. I just had a plumbing job done, it took less than one hour..I know I was there, but when I got the bill, I was charged $90 just for the guy to show up, then the job was quoted at 2:30hrs@ $75.00/hr. Needless to say I was pissed, but a call to the company got nowhere. They probably bill out 18 hours of labor for a 8 hour day..go figure!!

I tried that, but that number is the vendor product number.
I think the Honda Part number is in the service manual...

... I also found it in:
http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/jsp/home.jsp

(great site)

it's

76253-SEP-A01 MIRROR SUB-ASSY., L. (HTD) 2004 TL 21.27 17.02

thanks all...

By request, here is the "Inner Window Sash Removal" required when replacing the entire mirror and not just mirror glass.
