Some people... a scratch...
I went down to visit my old college last weekend and I discover a scratch on my rear driver side door. It's more like a nick than a scratch actually. It must've been some drunk college kids being careless in the parking lot. There was also a half-empty bottle sitting next to my rear driver side tire...
I have a touch-up pen but it's not gonna come out looking the same color. Definitely noticeable that it's a different color. At least it'll protect it from being completely exposed to rust.

Good parking habits are a must. Park waaaaaaaaaay out away from everyone else. Park in last spot next to the curb. Park next to walk ways, etc. You get the idea. Hope you can fix your nick.

Parking anywhere is a huge risk these days and it sucks. Where I work I have to park in parking garages. Unless I want to go above the 6 th floor I have to park next to someone. 99% of the time a car will come in after me and park right on my door and usually over the line. I had an 03 CL that was clean when I bought it. In 2 years of parking garages I had at least 10 door dings. Now I have a 07 TLS and am nervous parking anywhere. Sorry no help but I feel your pain brother....

I just checked in to a hotel in Orlando. I don't do valet parking. Nobody drives my TL but me. The Hyatt Regency has a covered parking garage. Here is my techiniqe that had kept me ding-free for 5 1/2 years: I alway look for the end space on the RIGHT so that at least the passenger side is out of the line of fire. I then angle my nose in as far to the right as possible...with the steering wheel cranked all the way to the right, the tire will act as a rubber curb feeler. By only exposing my driver's side to potential threats, I have reduced the exposure considerable. Most vehicles have only the driver aboard so I am not in danger from the driver side doors. For the few who have passengers on the right, they would have to try very hard to get within reach of my angled car. However, I am careful to stay within the lines for my space. People get keyed by haters when you take two parking spaces. Not a good idea.

Guru, sorry to hear about that. I know you take excellent care of your TL. I've just learned to park far away too. I drop my girlfriend off at front doors of restaurants in the wintertime and I make the long walk alone.

Well at least you weren't responsible for it... My dumb ass didn't pull in far enough into my garage a few nights ago... nice eyesore of a little scratch smack dab in the middle of the back bumper!
