I found an 04 6speed manual with 140,000 miles on it. I had been looking for something newer like 07 but that's like a needle in a haystack. any way
So first off they are asking a premium price if the car is in good shape what do you figure its really worth?
Is there anything for 04's that i should look at that might be a problem? I know about lower ctrl arm bushing.

Here is a link to the 3G garage. There is a lot of useful info in there about all 04-08 TL's. With 140,000 miles you might want to check and make sure the timing belt/ water pump service has been done. If it hasn't been done that is a deal breaker.

It's a pretty significant maint item, ~$900 - $1200, ask for a reciept. No reciept? Ask which dealer had it done then call the service dept with the VIN and check; also check any open recalls or TSB/warranty work done.

Some '04's seem more prone to front seat wear (2 panels instead of 3 in later years), trans issues (5AT), dash board cracking (hot weather states particularlly).

 

Just out of curiosity if I have the Vin could honda/accord tell me what work has been done if I call them with vin?

When we bought our Mustang (used) I called the Ford dealer and they were more than willing to give me the info they had.

Just tell 'em you're thinking about buying it and want to see if they have any service/warranty history or open recalls for that VIN. Worst they can say is "no".

 

no more than 10k..got mine for 14k with just over 1/3 of the mileage on that car.

 

with 140k miles ....you shoudnt even be thinking about that car
and I would never in my life get a 2004 TL because of the cracked dash problem

I bought my 04 for 13k. non navi, year 1/2 ago.

 

I had to pass they just wanted to much for me and I think it was sold later in the day. I drove back by after work and it was gone.

I realize they sold it but am just curious. It a 6MT with navi w/ Aspec kit and Aspec wheels that looks like its in decent shape from that one pic.

 

They were asking 14000. the idiot i spoke to was this car is worth every penny of 13k but could not show if timing belt had been changed or any servicing at all and was just wanting to play the back and fourth game so I walked. I had printed out all the book values and taken them with me, honestly I would say the car was worth 10k give or take. I was talking to a friend who told me they price every thing through the roof and hope people will pay.
