Some fun with an E36 M3

I was heading to work this morning at around 7:20AM and came across an E36 M3. The car had a drop and I could tell just by his aggressive driving style that he would bite .. I slowly glide by him and move into the fast lane .. he immediately switches lanes and starts pacing me .. I could tell it was on.

I was on a particular stretch highway where the 163 merges into the 15. . It essentially goes from 4 lanes to 8 with a huge clearing in the traffic .. especially in the fast lanes. I drop to 3rd gear at about 75mph .. I wait for the 2 freeways to merge and I gun it. I got a little jump on him but I started leaving him very slowly. I was only about 1 1/2 car lengths ahead by 105mph and had to shut down.

I wanted to get a 50 roll but the traffic in the morning was getting heavier and heavier, it just wasn't an option at that point.

I think if we did a 50 roll, it would be a really really close race .. those older M3s are no joke. This race was no surprise to me .. I knew it would be a good one.

Yes, even the e36 M3s are quick. Nice run man. They have a good amount of torque on the low end and nice top end as well. I ran one at the track last year with I/E and he was ahead by a fender in 1st. Once 2nd came around though I pulled and pulled even more in 3rd.

It's nice to show the M power our tails

good kill. Pretty certain the M3 driver won't be posting any good death stories on the Bimmer forum as losing to a Honda Accord would probably get him exiled.

When I had my 02 Maxima, I lost twice to two different E36 M3s. Given the manner in which I lost both races, I regretted not opting for the 6MT over the 4AT that I had at the time.

I think I will own a 03 6MT Maxima before I die, they're such sleepers.

slow03maxima gave me inspiration along time ago .. the fact he's running bottom 13s N/A is amazing.

Stock e36 M3s are pretty slow and not much faster without boost.

The Manual E36 M3's are much quicker than the auto's from my experience. At my track here I raced a E36 auto(stock) a few times and consistantly took him by .3-.4 tenths of a second and had a good 3MPH on him!

I ran one at the track with exhaust (5MT). We only had 1 run but I had him by .5 tenths and 4+mph.
