SOCAL - 2005 Acura TL Powerbuy

Hello Friends,

For the last few months I have been on the fence about purchasing the 2004 TL (See: SOCAL Acura TL Price - should I pull the trigger?)

Well the 2005 are right around the corner and the 2004 are scarce and still have little price movement. Since several people on the thread mentioned an interest in combining resources to try to get a better deal on 2005, I figured I would start a thread to test the waters. I would like to compile a list of those interested as well as:

1) Recommended Dealerships/ Dealers
2) Specs: Exterior/ interior colors - Automatic/ manual – With/without AutoNav. (IE: SSM/Quartz/5AT/Navi).
3) Financing options: Lease, Loan, Cash.
4) Purchasing Time frame. (Would you be interested in providing a deposit if it was needed to secure pricing?)

Just some request:
• Do not include options – those can be negotiated separately…
• Only those who are truly interested. If this is going to work – we need people who know exactly what they want and are realistically going to purchase in the next few weeks.
• If anyone has done something like this before – any advice would be appreciated…

1) Santa Monica Acura, they gave me the best web quote on 04s and they've been the people I've worked with most. I like Weir Canyon too, their Internet managers are nice
2) NBP/Black/6MT/Navi
3) Lease
4) 2 months

I know I'm kind of late :P Don't wait up for me.

I'd like to state my interest, but I don't know if I'll make it by whatever date you guys set.

1) Prefer Santa Monica Acura or Weir Canyon, as both have been good to me
2) NBP/Ebony/6MT/Navi
3) Lease
4) 1-2 months

I probably wouldn't be able to make it on everyone else's time table, and I don't want to hold anything up. I wouldn't mind putting a deposit on it though, just to secure pricing if it could mean I'd get it later in the year.

2) Anthracite Metallic/Quartz/5AT/Navi
3) Loan
4) Oct. - Jan.

BTW, if it means anything to any of you, I just got a quote from Butts Acura in Monterey for a 2005 Anth/Ebony/6MT w/ A-spec for $38,400. Pretty good for a car that is made in a year that isn't even here yet

Down here in SB, dealers were quoting just uner $42,000 for the same car... I'm still trying to confirm some things, but if it goes well I'll let you all know!

That's kind of far, but assuming the aspec added 5000+ or so to the car, that would make it a pretty damn good deal.

I'm interested if there is a way to coordinate. Wouldn't mind flying down for a mini-vacation and pick up the car.

1) Anywhere near DisneyLand...
2) 05 Anthracite/Ebony, 6MT, Nav. HPT/Wheel locks would also be nice.
3) cash
4) asap. As it turns out, I'm close to going through a broker but there isn't much of a discount.

Okay, the final price is 39,070 for the 6MT/NAV/A-SPEC...

The Internet Manager is Larry McFladden (whom I've spoken with). His email is clm@buttsmotors.com if anyone is interested... The car itself was about 33,900 and the A-Spec was about 5,100...

Just made a new thread about this, but the car (6MT/NAVI) was $33,970 w/o TTL. No HPT. If I want A-Spec he'll do it for $5100 installed.

Ok - this is what I am proposing. So far we have 10 requests for different 2005 Acura's TL's.
I am going to send an internet/email quote out Friday or Saturday to the following dealers.

Pasadena Acura
Thomas Acura
Sierra (Alhambra) Acura
Downey Acura
Weir Canyon
Keys
Santa Monica
South Coast

I will explain that we have 10 individuals who are interested in purchasing the car in the next few weeks and are willing to pay a deposit to secure the car and to show our commitment.

The tricky part is that I can’t vouch for anyone and there is nothing to stop one, two or all of us from bailing out when it comes time to purchase. So the dealer might not move much on a car that they have already ordered and they know they can sell to anyone walking in off the street. I think the largest advantage we would have on pricing, is to negotiate a cost based on new orders that the dealer hasn't already pre-ordered. Unfortunately - that also means that the wait could be a little more than people are willing to tolerate. The other option is to negotiate an Acura TL forum price, which would be more convenient but I doubt the deal would be substantial.

I am going to go with the pre-order option tactic first, unless everyone is opposed. Otherwise if anyone has any other idea's or So Cal dealer recommendation, please feel free to Private Message me.

Thanks
TL

Thanks for coordinating this, but I'll have to bail out. I wish I could wait longer to get a cheaper price, but I'm renting a car and each day costs me money as well. Hope you guys get a great price!

ToddL: I don't have a problem with the pre-order tactic too...hopefully we can get a good price from the dealerships. There are probably some people who are waiting to see if we get a good price before they jump on the bandwagon so we might have more than 10 people at the end, don't you think?

I have a deal set up here in SoCal (Thanks to Draiden who hooked me up) where you get $1500 off MSRP, not including destination, tax, license, etc etc. I think that's a pretty good discount so I'm gonna be jumping on it. If any of you guys want to buy at this price, maybe we can group buy and see if we can get more discount??

Genius, I'll buy. If a SoCal dealer will part with an '05 5AT w/Navi for under $34,000, I'd be crazy not too.

Hrm, I'm interested. I don't really want to buy for a few months, but it supposedly takes around 3 months if they have to order a 6MT. So I'm willing to put down a deposit ASAP. What dealership is this, if you don't mind me asking?

Again this group is individuals who are going to purchase an Acura TL in the next month or so. We are willing to commit to a single dealership by submitting a deposit and pre-order models if we can secure better pricing. I am sending this request to several SoCal dealerships, and am willing to discuss this with any dealer who is interested in accommodating this request.

Hi guys,
Here's the detail on the deal:
I was given the contact info of a fleet manager at Cerritos Acura and when I called him on Monday afternoon, he told me the following
1) He will give me $1500 off MSRP, no string attached
2) I will need to fax him my contact info (name, address, number) and the car spec + color combo
3) NO deposit is needed
4) The color combo I chose (NHP + Ebony) will arrive in approximately 3 weeks and when it arrives he will call me.

Now, all of the above are done over the phone so I'm not sure if he will hold up his end of the deal but I feel that the person I talked to was sincere and does not BS. I mean, I've got nothing to lose anyway since no deposit is needed.

I see that alot of people are interested in this deal so here's my question...do you want me to represent you guys to talk to the fleet manager or do you guys just want to handle everything on your own?? I will be happy to give you the contact info of the manager, just PM me. If you guys want me to represent all of us, then PM me with the car spec + color combo you want and I'll contact the manager and see if we can work out a deal. Please let me know before Friday so I can tally up everything.

We should probably try and see what kind of responses that ToddL gets before everyone jumps on that deal. That way the whole group doesn't like break in half.

Evil Genius/ Everyone else - lets make sure when we get pricing that it includes destination charages ($570.00). Sales tax and such are address dependant - so you cant include that.

If you quote doesnt include destination - then you are looking at $34,540.00 which is good, but I am hoping we can negotiate down to $34,000.00 for 10 or more requests.

This is what I am working off in my Negotiations (Listed on consumer reports)
2005 Acura TL 5AT W/ Navi and 6MT w/ Navi
Wholesale Cost $31,326.00
Invoice: $32,373.00
MSRP: $35,470.00
Dealer Holdback $1,047.00

ToddL, i believe the price you listed already includes the $570 destination. According to the Acura website, the MSRP for a 05 Navi TL is 34,900, or $35,470 with destination. $1500 off would be $33970.

If that is the case - it would be the best so far. I just wanted to confirm because in his original post he states that is it 1500.00 off MSRP (which includes destination charges), but the dealer told him them would it didnt include destination. Dealers love to play games...
