So my loaner TL got broken into...

So I've been driving a 07 TL-S for the last few days b/c my 04 is getting some work done. Just a few hours ago it got broken into...

Just wondering if any of you guys knew how Acura handles these things. I assume it varies from dealership to dealership, but I thought I'd ask anyway. Obviously since its Sunday night nobody is at the dealership (I called anyway). Already filed the police report too.

By broken into I mean they smashed the front passenger side window and took some stuff.

thanks

People piss me off so much. I can't stand how someone could vandalize someone else's property like that (whether it was yours or not doesn't matter). Sorry I can't help you about the dealership thing, I would assume it's covered under their insurance.

And, although it's a rather unfortunate set of events, I doubt you will be affected negatively.

By the way, how'd u get a brand new Type S as a loaner for an '04 TL?

apparently my dealership has a few of them for loaner cars. all i had to do was ask in advance...

looks nice. tons to love about the changes they made, but i still miss my 04. doesn't quite have the same feel being AT and all. now if they only had a MT for a loaner.....

i believe your insurance would have to pay for it.. because whenever they give me a loaner, they ask for my insurance card and they write the info down..

depends where the car got broken into. If it was on your driveway your homeowners should take care of it being it was on your property. Also maybe your credit card may also take care of any damages. Ive drove a few Acura loaners ( 06 TSX mostly ) and Ive read the rental agreement. Its like some crazy amount if any damages happaned during the rental period. Even tho its not your fault the dearship is going to get the dectuable either way. By your own pocket, car insurance or the credit card picking up the tab. I wouldnt worry too much about it.

Sorry about what happaned. Next time get a trunk monkey.

Your insurance will be used. Thats why they ask for you insurance info on the loaner agreement. Take a look at the agreement, that should shed some more light on the subject. Basically when you sign that form, they are releasing all liability for that vehicle over to you.

In NY they ask for your Car Insurance when you get a loaner. You would have to file against that. Windows might be covered under Comprehesive so your deductable may or may not come into play.

Many years ago I had a 95 Acord and a tree branch fell on my car and dented the hood. This was at my parents house. Their home owners (which was the same company as my car ins anyway) covered it in full if I remember right.

Florida could be different but, I doubt it. Will likely come out of your end / insurance.

That sucks.. did they steal your stuff from the loaner?

Look at it this way, at least it wasn't your car that got broken into, so you dont have to worry about getting the window fixed, but it still sucks if they got off with some of your stuff.

Id be really wary of making a claim under your home insurance. Carriers seem super sensitive about those policies and will drop you for minor claims.

yes that is true. ended up not filing anything cept the police report.

window did cost $350 though. they had to replace it with factory spec. otherwise it would have cost only $200. not as bad as i expected. considering they charged my insurance $800+ for the windshield. as for the stuff... hope they try to pawn it off. good thing i kept track of the serial numbers.

so if your loaner car window gets smashed, get it fixed yourself before bringing it back. maybe they won't notice.... lol.

What "stuff" did you have in plain sight? Whenever I have a loaner car I don't put ANYTHING in the car at all (what's the point)? If I do have a computer bag or some such, I take it with me when I leave the car. What's the point in advertising to the crooks?

had my radar detector (V1) in the cup holder and a pair of sunglasses. went in for dinner. came back out and the window was smashed. my car has tinted windows and u usually can't see it there.

i usually don't put anything in the car either, but then i usually don't have the car for a week.

funny part was that my girlfriend accidently left her cell phone laying on the backseat, but they didn't take it. guess it wasn't cool enough for them.
