So much for exclusivity!

Ok, so we have heard you mention many times the TL is not a sports car. Did anyone honestly buy it as such? It's a 4 door sedan that will sit 4 adults comfortably and has many luxuries. But it's also not a slug and fun to drive. It's a compromise between the two at a decent price. Hence the "Sport Sedan" category.
I agree that around MD/DC/VA the TL is not exclusive. Yesterday morning I don't know what happened, but I looked around and there were tree SSM TL's close by traveling the same direction however they all turned off seperatly, And I am not mentioning the other TL's comming the other way. Traveling 6miles to work I counted 9 3-gen TL's

The way they are pricing the TL-S, I wont be surprised if they end up selling more TL-S then TL's this year. One of my firends in Delaware wanted to buy a TL and the dealer offered him the TL-S for about $1300 more so it was a no brainer for him.

Few young ladies here and there. I saw a cutie on duty in a nicely modded NBP taking the Dulles Toll Rd exit a month ago! But usually only a few mods, mainly just tinted. I know I can count on one hand the amount that I have seen with different rims on them!

The other thing, I am in Owings Mills, I have not seen one TL with other rims, there is one A-spec that I can think of, and one like mine with the A-spec kit but stock rims that I saw a BWI. Other than those all have been stock.
When I got my 00TL, there were hardly any on the road .... For the last few years, there are more 2G & 3G TL on the road .... nowadays, I don't see that many Tl-S yet, but I am sure it will show as my dealer told me ppl are buying S-type hype (like me?) LOL

Shorten the mounting brackets, shrink da wing a little bit and you might end up with this...

The TL that won its class and came in third overall during the 2004 25 hours of ThunderHill!!
Hey, think someone can make angle eyes for the front brakes like this?? Now that would be exclusive!!
Gotta love the front brakes!! Those Brembos really held up!
Happy Motoring!
A little more exclusive where I am

) But for the make itself? You can't be serious csmeance! I see Acuras (especially TLs) everywhere in the DC/MD/VA area! As well as the rest of models. I don't see a lot of modded TLs (so I feel exclusive in that regard - i.e., my grille, etc), but the car make itself is flowing from a "horn a'plenty"!

Just because a car is rare doesn't automatically mean it's a great car. Maybe it was just a POS, and no one wanted one? (Not referring to the NSX, obviously, since I've owned two in the past.) At the end of the day, the important thing is whether you can live with the car or not, regardless of what other people think. The popularity of the TL does not take away from the fact that it's a great car at a reasonable price. In fact, that's why it's popular in the first place.
Be happy with what you've got.

werd, why care about exclusivity with the TL. ferrari and porsche owners who read this thread must be laughing their asses off. if you wanted exclusivity, ACURA should've never been on the list.
My TL is definitely exclusive in South Mississippi. We have no Acura dealership within 60 miles...and that's where I had to go, to Mobile, AL, to get mine. Ohter nearest dealers are in suburban New Orleans (100 miles), and Baton Rouge (180 miles) and the Fla Panhandle (also around 180 miles). Needless to say, I overpaid compared to most of the rest of you...dealer knew he had the local market cornered and was unwilling to move much on price, and he was right - none of the other dealers within 200 miles would move much on their prices either.
I've seen exactly one other TL in my area since I bought mine last July. I chatted up the lady in it when we were in the Post Office parking lot, and she told me she had to go all the way to Central Fla to buy hers.
So while I don't "need" the ego boost of exclusivity, I must admit I do kinda like it.
Interestingly, while my market is certainly not what you'd consider "upscale" (hence no Acura dealership...sh*t, we don't even have a Target because Target feels WalMart is too dominant), $40K+ pickup trucks are a dime-a-dozen, because pickups are still perceived as "workin' class", even when all leathered up.

You guys need to move to a more ghetto area then! haha Where I live, half the cars are Accords or Civics. My TL is pretty exclusive here.
However, if I drive 20 min west, I'm in a sea of TLs and Beamers. If I drove 20 min east I'd probably be car jacked lol. Socio-economics is so interesting.

Anyone buying an Acura for exclusivity is a bit on the clueless bandwagon anyway. You want exclusivity...you get lambo or Bentley or something like that. Exclusivity does not come with in the Acura price point. Getting close with the NSX....but not really quite hangin with the big boyz yet!

i've had my TL S for two weeks now. i've been looking for TL's on the road. so far i've seen only 2 TL's in my area. went on a road trip from Boston to D.C. and only saw about 10 TL's, all in D.C.
haven't seen another TL S yet.
i'll keep looking though. bound to see another one sometime.
same thing happened when i bought a WRX in '04. saw maybe 3 others the first year i owned it.

My lead post said:
"I was driving out to the I-540 ring road this morning at rush hour, something I generally avoid like the plague, following two identical Anthracite Metallic TL's with my car making a 3 car train of AM TL's. Five cars up were two more TL's a black & a dark red.
So out of ten cars nose to tail 5 were TL's"
EDIT: In my Martial Arts school parking lot on Saturday there were 3 TL & 1 TLS
I think that .... going back to the original poster's topic (exclusiveness of the TL-S rather than Acura as a brand) .... the reason why you saw so many TL-S (at the dealership compared to the number of base TL) is perhaps the fact fewer people buy the TL-S than the TL. IMHO, the majority of those who drive the TL do not need the extra HP and the modified suspension may not appeal to all. Granted, I own a TL-S and LOVE it, I think that the MAIN reason why people buy the TL-S over the TL is because of the exterior look .... nothing beats the quad exhaust design
With less people purchasing the TL-S over the TL, the inventory of TL-S at the dealerships could prove to be greater than that of the base TL during certain times. Here in socal, I only have seen two TL-S on the road aside from my roommate and mine, and COUNTLESS base TL models ... 100+?? Practically see 5+ a day when driving my 8 mile round trip to school not to mention when I go across town on the freeway.
At the time i bought my TL-S, the dealership had 9 TL-S in stock ... we bought 2 off their hand at the same time and got massive discounts (and their only KBP TL-S lolol). And as for their base TL?
Their inventory showed 54.
