The airbag sensors work on shock or g force, not how much the car is crushed in. You could have a semi slowly (relatively) crushing the car and the airbags would never go off. That's what I'm trying to get at. I'm sure you hit hard but it sounds like you were fine. Do you think in this case airbags would have done more harm than good since you were relatively uninjured and the bags could've damaged your ears, face, etc?
