So how much is a TL really worth?

I recently have been looking for a used car on autotrader and I had stumbled on some really inexpensive buys for the 3G TL. I thought that the typical sale for these were 18K+ w/ 40K miles give or take. But I saw this beauty and I'm curious if its a fake or not;

TL option 1

Every other 2004 model around this price has 80K or more miles, something must be up right?

Just to add one more thing I saw this TL similarly priced but with navi;

TL option 2

If you can spend a little more, I would get an 05 or 06 TL. 04 are known to have some tranny issues. And always get the TL with Navi, yes it is worth it!!!

I'm in the market for an '05-'06 TL w/Navi in the Ohio area...
Any thoughts on around how much I should expect to pay for one? (a lot that I've been seeing have around 50k miles) Or at least how much is TOO much?
Also, is it worth it to get a "Certified Preowned" from a dealer? They charge more for those, is it worth it?

I would try to pickup an 07 purely for nav traffic option and updated navigation.

But I think the 05's should be like 15000 with 50k miles and navi/the works.

well u see it depends because the residual on the car after a lease or finance is about 16. thats a private sale if the person wants to get rid of it fast....but since the popularity of the car has risen and we have a large family of tl's here on the site and off... the price does go up. if u can get an off lease car and finance whats left it or buy it outright then ur ok but def look to pay more if ur getting it from someone other than private party.....they gotta make their money. but if u catch someone walking into the dealer talking about trading in their lease or finance... talk to them about taking it if it has ur eye...luck of the draw.

Thank you (and everyone) for your response!
This whole "Certified Pre-owned" thing that dealers are doing drives up their price as well I'm sure. Just a way to try and squeeze even more money out of us...
I wonder how far down I can talk a dealer on an '06 Navi they're trying to sell for like $25900...
Another question... How much should I look to pay for an '07 Navi?

In NJ try auto lenders....60+ TL's 05 and 06's less than 30k miles. I got my 06 with Nav for 25k with only 22k miles! www.autolenders.com cars are in good condition....price advertised is price you get car for...maybe $500.00 off on some but no "haggling".....

I haven't seen too many threads on 04's with tranny issues. Just as many with the 05-06 models. Nothing really changed till the 07's unless I'm completely off base.

Seems like a fair price for an 04 TL with that mileage, my new roommate is looking at a 05 TL with 55k and he's got the dealer down to $16,500 prior to his trade.

Hey I been looking into a 3rd gen as well, just a quick question not meaning to hijack thread. I found a 05 TL dynamic pkg with aero kit and manual tranny for $22k, with 60k km (Canadian). But no navi, question is do the 05-06 manual trannys have navi in them? And is the aero kit just the front lip? Cause it doesnt look like it has a side or rear lips.

I have posted the ones that I have been interested in, which have aero kits. Is whats being shown really the kit?

That looks like a hell of a deal.....

I bought my TL in early March, it's an 04 w/navi and came w/a-spec had 42k on it. I ended up paying $18,700 OTD

It was a complete impulse buy, my husband was getting his oil changed when I saw it and I fell in love. I drove an 05 Accord that I bought new so did I really need the TL? NO, but I had to have it.

BTW the sticker said $26,000 HA HA what a joke!!

The TL in my avatar is gone (long story), so I need to get a car that'll cost me $300 or less a month over a 5yr finance with $1500 down.

Did you buy yours from an Acura dealer, I went to Devan Acura and saw a similar car from the one I have posted Nighthawk Black pearl with 47,893 miles 2004. It had a sticker price of $21,995. I wonder if I can haggle them to give it to me for $18,500 it has quite a few dings on the side and the paint isn't nice and soft like my 2006 was.

The Anthracite TL (the one with navi and just the front lip) it looks like a decent price, you're talking about $21,995 CDN with what should almost be 35,000miles or 52,000KM, I'd say try getting it for $20,500 CDN or maybe less.

Thanks that's great news, perhaps I'll try to go to the dealer nearby and haggle them to let it go for $18,500 with a CPO warranty.

The Certified pre-owned from the dealer is a load of crap. The warranty they offer on some vehicles is 60 days 3,000mi. It sure as hell doesn't justify the extra $2,000 they'll charge.

I actually bought it from a Chevy dealer, like I said impulse buy! The economy is BAD right now.....you can def haggle with them.

Let them know if they don't give you a number you like you are not afraid to walk out. I had an advantage because the dealership knew I did not NEED this car, I was already driving a nice Accord. Make sure you are very stern with them and make sure you have the upper hand. I had to say the f word a few times before they knew I ment business!! Like I said, it was a chevy dealer, need I say more?????

So, these prices I'm seeing are WAY below the crap kbb.com is telling me...
Are there any sites out there that can give me a better idea how much I should REALLY expect to by different used cars for? Or how much dealers generally pay for them, or something?

Only as much as the next person is willing to pay for it or only as much as you are willing to let it go. Depends on how you look at it.

This car have been sold. I went to check it out and test drove it about 3 weeks ago. It was a fairly clean car inside and out, but mechanically it was probably the worst I've driven in the past month (bad brakes, rattles, pulled to the right a bit, and felt down on power).

I see, thanks for the heads up, so most likely I won't be able to get a TL unless I use up all my money just for a car and that won't make much sense will it.

Ok update guys, if you look at the first option I posted the 2004 TL with 49,232miles, that car is selling for $16,450. It hasn't been in any reported accidents per the carfax report, so it looks like its just a really sweet deal.

I am going to see if the Acura dealer near my house, about 10miles away can come close to it, if not I'll have to travel to NY to get this car. I really hope my monthly payments will be inexpensive.

Anyone know what kind of monthly payments I should expect on a 5yr finance?

Your figures are WAY off. I doubt you can even get an 04+ Accord for that.

I've seen one 04 TL for $13,000 but it had been in an accident and needed major body repair.

Yeah a 2004 TL with 70,000mi with no accidents will sell for $16,500. However, some places in the country are much cheaper than others, what I mean is when I did a search on autotrader every TL I saw in NY was 3~4K cheaper than the TL in CT with the same miles, color and condition.

Yes the area definitely makes a difference, I am in Ontario and here an 04 still costs 20k unless it has high mileage or some major fault, then it's 17-18k. And that's assuming it's not certified pre-owned.

Those prices seem pretty reasonable for 04 TL with No Nav, I also definately recommend getting the Nav if you can its worth it!! Good luck.
