Don't actually know yet, but it feels very fast compared to my old 2001 TL with "only" 225 hp! I only have about 900 miles on it so I can't really fly yet, but I'm getting there.

How fast?

Well, I don't officially have any 0-60 times but the top speed claim of 140 mph seems to be a good number.

C&D reported the manual TL did 0-60mph in 5.7sec. I would venture to guess the AT would be 6.0sec.

To PeterUbers: Where did you get the 6.3 sec 0-60 time from? I just turned in an Audi A6 2.7T and bought an 04 TL automatic. The Audi was tested at 6.7 sec for 0-60 by C&D (I think), and the TL seems distinctly faster.

I read in Motor Trend's newest comparo (Motor Trend's 2004 car of the year) that the 2004 TL did 0-60 mph in 6.1 but I believe this is reporting 6MT as the 5AT has been predominantly listed as 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds.

i would say mid to high 14s or so for an auto. and mid to low 14s for a 6spd. forget 0-60 that doesnt mean anything..

I don't want to buck the trend but I went from a 03 TL-P to a 04 TL and the TL-P seemed pretty sprited runing around town, the new TL feels about the same to me, however when you step on the 04 TL and it kicks down from 5th to 3rd I do notice an improvement in power, but not as much as I thought.

C&D lists 6.0 sec for 0 - 60 for MT. All I know is that the car passes and swallows curves very well. Extremely happy.

I know we're talking apples and oranges, but I wish the TL was faster than the Evo and WRX STi. I want that 300+ hp TL.

Wait a bit for some new bolt-ons and I'm sure that number will be easily achieved.

It is faster, just not from 0-60. On the highway they will see your taillights every time!

I agree. If I wanted a drag racer I would just keep my Mustang and go get it blown.

I want the TL for the Luxury and then the Sport. I think it combines the best of both worlds quite nicely.

You must be on serious drugs. I have seen an evo stock, tear the a$$ off a new M3. And the STI is just as fast. I love the new TL, it's got some sack, but at no point stock for stock will an EVO or STI ever see it's tail lights, heck even in the rain or snow.

Like others, I have been able to see the 140mph... maybe a tick over... Does anyone know how fast before the speed governor kicks in. At 140, the TL seemed like it had plenty more.
