Does anyone know why Acura didn't have the rear side marker light match the front one? Hopefully someone will come out with an aftermarket version.

 

I wonder if you could order the front ones and swich them around? It would make fiscal sense for acura to make one mold for all side markers.

sorry ... the back markers are over an inch longer plus have a diffrent angle. already thought about that a few months ago, oh well hope someone makes some new ones.

 

what makes it red, the cover or the bulb inside?

yeah the cover is red in the back. i dont know what color the bulb is but i would assume it is white.

 

The bulb must be RED illumination (it could be a clear housing that lights red), this is the cheapest LED color on the market, White illuminating is 4 to 5 times more than RED illuminating LEDs and is the most expensive LED (the hardest to make and the most scrap) in the market (white illuminating).

Yes, a smoked lens would work.

The only reason they (Acura) would not have done smoked was for Federal laws, however, that only applies to the lit color which would be red, and the reflector, but the reflector is built into the rear tail light and is red.

Therefore, changing the rear side marker lens smoke would comply with fed laws (FMVSS).

 

sorry brotha... you need to do some measuring before you give advice... the rear marker is a diffrent size and also has a little diffrent angle to it. thanks for the info on LED's... you seem to know what your talking about there??

 

i was thinking about removing the rear red lense, having it painted NBP to match the body color, re-installing and just not plugging the harness back into the assembly (so it wouldn't light up). Any thoughts on that guys?!

 

I think you misunderstood me, I did not say you can use the smoked lens from the front, just that you could make a smoked lens (get someone to mold one) and turn the rear unit into a smoked lensed unit.

I agree they are different shapes (front vs rear).
