Small Problems

Week and a half and I had to take my car in. Front passenger mid blown, rear drivers door wouldn’t open from the inside, (I checked the child lock) and the signal lights only go off sometimes. When I make a left turn and come out of it I have to give it a quick jerk to the right to turn it off. They fixed everything but the signal lights. They said this might be normal because of the tires, and is a little more sensitive. Has anyone else had any problems with their signal lights? Are they touchy or is there something wrong? I just find myself having to turn them off way more then I did in any other vehicle. As for the speaker it looked like someone had cut it with a knife.

Welcome to the Forum. Good to hear from you.

They're fulla crap. If they were more sensitive they would go off more, not less, or sometimes, as you said. They probably need to adjust the turn signal switch, or the levers that turn it off in the steering column. Most TL owner's will tell you that these work about the same, or better, than most.

Mike,

I have exactly the same problem with my left turn signal in my 2005 Canadian TL... I have brought it to the dealership and they made some adjustments, but it still doesn't work right. I actually was hit from behind recently and am bringing it back to the dealership soon so I will have them fix it properly then.

Question for you... does your moonroof visor (that thing that slides to block light) rattle and make clicking sounds on bumpy roads? Mine does. Right now, I have a napkin stuffed in there, and it stopped, but I'm curious to know if other Canadian TLs have the same issue.

Thanks!

I haven’t heard anything from the visor yet, but I only have 600km’s so far. I’ll take it down a bumpy road tonight and see. As for the lights let me know if they fix it. I picked mine up last night and they said they where going to make a few calls and see if this was a problem.

Ahhh! Fellow Canadians :canada:

Welcome fellow Canadians..

This is an absolutely great site for owners of the TL. One of the best
ways to find out if your questions have already been addressed (sic) is to use
the search function on this site. Another must read is the Garage Sticky. Lots of
information there for the taking.

Welcome aboard and conrgatulations on your purchases.

Happy motoring and remember "Keep the shiney side UP"

I love the emoticon.

TL42... do you know anything about the head unit on Canadian ELS units having a spare AUX input left over from the lack of XM radio and how to select it if there is one? Would be awesome for us!!

Zax, all I can do now is to direct you to the search function or the section on
bluetooth navigation system. There is, I think, some discussion on this matter but I cannot say for sure. Good hunting.

and let me know if you find out.. seeing as though it looks as if the CRTC may open up

XM for Canada.

Zax123, Drove down a couple of alleys last night and didn’t hear anything. If it starts I’ll let you know, and see what the dealer has to say.

TL42, ok... I wrote to Blitzsafe and they said they needed to see the back of the head unit to know if they could use of their adapters on it... but I'm sure the back of our head unit is the same as the US one. Anyway, I don't have the money to play with it all right now, so I'll probably look at all this again in the new year.

Yippee! And you're not Canadian... Well, while I get my bumper replaced, the dealership is DEFINITELY fixing that problem. That and the rattling sunroof, and the rattling overhead console... and... yeah that's about it.

Shibby, have you taken yours in or called about it? I have to do the same thing when I come out of a left turn. My dealer is looking into it they said but did nothing when I had it in the other day. I’m sure one of our dealers should be able to fix it.

Zax123, when are you taking your car in?

Well, I had my damage appraised yesterday and the dealer should have an estimate by now so as soon as they receive a new bumper and have it ready to be installed, I'll head over there. I would guess that it'll take at least a week for them to get the part, but I honestly don't know. So I should know whether or not it's all fixed in a couple weeks.
