small paint defect? Fix it or not?
Hey guys,
After a rather complete inspection of my new 05 tl I found what appears to be a small paint defect. It is hard to see and is very smooth (I don't think it is touch up paint).
It was really hard to get it to show in the pictures but it looks like some left over wax or something but it will not come off.
Since you all know my story of getting this car, what should I do? Take it back and complain? Go to a new dealer? or just ignore it because it is so minor?
Your thoughts?

I can't see the pics but since you just got your car I'd take it back to the dealer. You just bought it and have every right for your car to be perfect. Even though your dealer is ass, take it back to the service dept and see if they can clean it up for you. The day after I picked up my car, I had a HUGE black smudge mark (parchment interior) on the armrest between the front seats. I brought it back to the dealer; they cleaned it up for me and gave me a brand new can of cleaner that they use on all the cars they service.
Anyway, it's worth a shot. Watch them have your car for a week

I say take it back to the dealer. Its a brand new car and under warranty. Also, do another inspection of your car before going back to see what else they should fix for you. This way you dont have to make another trip to the dealer later on.
argoldst, didnt you get this car from Island Acura? saw your other thread on this forum...
make sure you inspect the car before you go in and after. remember, these are the same a**holes who tried to screw you... just friendly advise...

Hard to tell, but that looks like something they hapharzardly did somewhere along the line from mfr to dealer.
I would suggest you carefully determine what they intend to do, and who intends to do it. A spot fix can be done expertly - but if they take the easy way out, and try to shoot the whole section, it is very likely the cure will be worse than the disease, esp if they do not go to a 1st-rate shop. I had to have a small section of the S2000 painted from a freight handling mishap, but i bypassed the dealer completely. It cost me $400, but I had a top-notch painter do it, and the result is flawless. i have seen other "adjustments" for paint defects,a nd each time, i found debris in the paint worse than the owner had initially. Personally, other than the $12k paint on one of my Corvette restorations, i have never seen a flawless paint job from any mfr below a Bentley. All my M3's had more flaws than the TL, and my bro's E55 AMG has several. I think setting reasonable expectations is a key to a happy life, and having a folder arms across the chest stance used to lead me to dark places. If perfection is the paradigm here, I think you have a likelihood of being disappointed - they will "fix" it - you will find flaws, they will do it again, same thing. The last dealer fix on paint on one fender left 21 paint flaws - I circled them with a china marker. The 3rd go around resulted in 2 - the exact number I had when I came in - that is a lesson i learned, and I pass on to you, to use as you will.
